Everyone knows the legend, but the real cause of death has never been confirmed. So, how do you think he died? Was he poisoned by a bar manager? Was he carried off to hell to repay th devil? Or is there a whole new story? What do you think? Should the old legend stay in tact, or should a new legend be started about the man who revolutionized the blues?

The culprit was the jealous husband.

The culprit is always the jealous husband.

I photographed David "Honeyboy" Edwards at the Pocono Blues Festival in the 90's and got to speak to him for a while. Interesting man to say the least. Robert Johnson used to date his cousin Willie Mae who's name shows up in Johnson's "Love in Vain". He used to play with Robert Johnson at juke joints and he told me Robert was messing around with a bartenders wife and he thinks the bartender poisoned his whiskey. There's a great video called "In Search of Robert Johnson" Where Honeyboy is interviewed as well as Willie Mae. He told me "Never drink out of a open whiskey bottle, it just ain't safe". Here's a photo of Honeyboy.

Thank you.

One can plainly see essence, purity of musical expression in that man's face.

Poisoned whiskey is more believable, dragged off by Hellhounds is more interesting.

I remember watching that documentary, the part where they are talking to his friend from when he was young, I seem to remember he mentioned something about syphilis and that back then you couldnt really talk about it. I'll have to pop in the dvd again.

I heard that he faked his own death, and re-invented himself as Buddy Guy!

murder, just like Hendrix

great Hendrix documentary about his last 24 hours and his death and others around him that died strangely. watch all 7 clips...

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... hours&aq=f

also read this...

"Jimi Hendrix's doctor says guitarist 'may have been murdered. Bannister, who was the on-call registrar at the now defunct St Mary Abbots Hospital in Kensington on September 18, the day of Hendrix's death, has now backed up the roadie's theory, saying it: "sounded plausible because of the volume of wine" found in Hendrix's lungs and on his body. "

"The amount of wine that was over him was just extraordinary. Not only was it saturated right through his hair and shirt but his lungs and stomach were absolutely full of wine. I have never seen so much wine," The Times reports Bannister as saying.

"We had a sucker that you put down into his trachea, the entrance to his lungs and to the whole of the back of his throat. We kept sucking him out and it kept surging and surging. He had already vomited up masses of red wine and I would have thought there was half a bottle of wine in his hair. He had really drowned in a massive amount of red wine."

well, his manger did hint to a friend that he helped kill Hendrix. he was also stealing large amounts of money from Hendrix and also told one of his friends Hendrix was worth more to him dead than alive and had a 2 million dollar life insurance policy on him.

and according to Kathy Etchingham, probably Hendrixs only true love, Hendrix gf at the time of his death lied about the night Hendrix died and the paramedics who tried to save his life, confirmed this.

motive and opportunity goes a long way in court

Concerning Hendrix's death there's a lot of controversy and always will be,and who knows,I've read that Billy Cox left the tour because he was convinced that somebody was wanting to kill him to get his job,it was called "drug induced paranoia".
