Whether it be with fender, music-man, or g&l, Leo Fender is probably the best guitar designer of our time. what do you think is his best work?

Ill stick to the classics and say the stratocaster. No guitar has ever or will surpass the popularity of the Fender stratocaster, making it his best. the Tele and the Jazz bass/precision bass are close runner ups

The Strat remains the quintessential electric guitar design of all time.

Equally significant, St. Leo's amp designs AA764 (Champ & Vibro Champ), AA864 (Vibrolux Reverb & Bassman), AA964 (Princeton & Princeton Reverb), AB165 (Pro Reverb & Bassman), and AB763 (the remaining blackface circuits) have never been surpassed.

His Fender's are the best bass guitar designs to this day. Not sure of his involvment with the Jazz.

The Precision, Jass, and Bass VI guitars were all Leo's developments.

For guitar, it still has to be the Strat...I love many of his later designs (and I'm a big fan of G&L guitars, but they were just improvements of components on his original designs, not completely new designs/instruments).

For amplifier, it has to be almost all of the early Bassman designs; from the original tweed combos to the piggybacks of the 1960s to the early 70s Bassman Ten, those were the best guitar amps ever designed.

If it wasn't for the success of the Telecaster there never would have been a Strat or Fender Bass.

The Strat and the P Bass.
There have been many tweakings of the originals, but none that actually "improved" them, they must made them different. It's cool when something is done right and stands the test of time.

The Stratocaster was introduced to quell fears that Telecasters would fall into the wrong hands.

Fact.

Stratocaster is his mark in history, IMO. However his design of the Tweed amps were the foundation for what has evolved in todays sound. He perfected his amp designs in the early to mid 60s where he created the greatest amps in modern amp history. He is a true American Patriot.
