He aint had no no1 and never had a no1.He never sold outside of the guitar playing community. That should tell you exactly how good he was. No amount of stupid faces per boring solo mean your talented or can write a song.

Without Hendrix there never would have been a SRV. End of story.

Well the fact that he couldn't make it onto billboard's national and had to settle for a piddling little chart makes it all alright. Oh by the way before you start talking of knowing things and making personal remarks towards me(that maybe you should repent of given the theological stance implied by your username) it was the Mainstream Rock Tracks section of the charts. Not the rock charts.

I'm sorry I refuse to accept the validity of a artist, that never sold outside America. The rock chart is based on sales that wouldn't get you into the top 100 on Billboard national chart. Thats what matters. I know perfectly well that his guitar was called by him, No1. Perhaps you ought to realize that if his managment, distribution company, or record label thought he could have written a real No1, they'd have pushed for it. Instead of poncing around on some pretend chart.

Perhaps you should get your perspective straight whilst you go educate yourself. He was a minor selling artist that seems to appeal only to guitarists. Much like Malmsteen, Vai (though he did excellent work with the Yellow Shark) and Satch. Guitarists playing for guitarists, it's bloody dull.

Hendrix, the Stones and the Beatles are the reason you have blues in your country today. It was absolutely dead in the water before 65 in America, before the Beatles went over there playing them old Berry songs and started the revival of it.

Oh and whilst were about it. Hendrix's Electric Ladyland reached No1 of the US National Billboard Album chart within a week of release. At a time when everyone was buying records. Piracy wasn't invented then and the charts were much stiffer in competition. A time when it was sales of 4million plus to even make it to no1 in the album chart. Thats kids without too much spare change shelling out for expensive albums.
Theres a bit of perspective for you.

+1000, Right on Guitslinger, The doubters should take a look at the sheet music of the Beatles, note for note. It ain't just powerchords. Not to mention, that group created more social change than any other band in history. Pure Legends known worldwide, at a time when there was not an Internet, or mass media like today. 8)

I agree that everyone has an opinion, but its hard to argue that the beatles are the most over-rated band.
The fact that they have influenced so many bands is a sure tell sign they are not over-rated

A list of artists/bands that have covered The Beatles
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ar ... he_Beatles

Over-rated!?!
Nice List. Wow, that is a testament in itself. The Beatles did influence the World! 8)

How about an under rated band? Cry of Love...remember them? Great early 90's band. Sounded like Bad Company with Hendrix on guitar. Love this band. "Peace Pipe" and "Bad Thing" were a couple hits of theirs.

I wouldn't consider the Cure as over rated as they are hardly ever rated at all-sadly enough.Although their music may not be everyone's cup of tea there's no mistaking Robert Smith's poetic genius.Smith is always wrongly accused of being dark and negative whereas most of the time he's saying things with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek. Some of the Cure's songs such as One More Time are just beautiful melodies with outstandingly beautiful lyrics. If anything The Cure along with The Smiths are among the most underated bands..

One persons overrated is another's greatest band ever!!!! Me I would say SRV from the past and Justin Bieber currently.
Bieber is proof that a well engineered marginally talented kid can be turned into a money maker if people handling him know what they are doing. Needs to make all the money now and lots of it because as he ages the cutesy effect on girls will decline to the next guy in line.
