Most overrated band of all time? Nirvana! Those guys (except Dave) never had an ounce of talent.

Oh yeah, while I'm at it. I hate the Beatles too.

Can't agree with you on the Beatles, but every word you spoke about Nirvana is the truth. They are by far the most overated band ever. period. case closed. next question.

That's weird! Everyone knows that the red ones are better.

Well theres no accounting for taste, as Zep managed to prove with all but 3 or 4 blues songs that they nicked off someone else and didn't completely mangle.
Zep get my vote, utter boredom incarnate. Theres a reason they didn't release singles, there managment knew they wouldn't sell.

SRV another great suggestion Nevin. Nothing but a rehashed overly heavy handed, nothing remarkable bluesplayer. All been done before. Another 'great' that didn't sell to anyone outside the guitar community. I stick by my original view, a white Hendrix clone for white America.

going to have to agree to disagree about LZ.....love their music and style and haven't found another band that can do what they did as a complete package.

As far as SRV is concerned.....he got a lot more kudos from black america in the blues community than he did white america. White america was more concerned about Pop music, Michael Jackson, Poison, Metallica, and Nirvanna. How can you be a white Hendrix clone for white America if white america didn't know who you are until after you die?.... and as you said who was really only known by the guitar community?

Nickleback,Jonas Bros.,Nirvana especially, how credible can a 30 year old singing about teenage angst be?Re The Beatles:They deserve every accolade they get they were brilliant songwriters and had an inate sense of composition. As I have mentioned many times before great conductors like Leonard Bernstein and Aurthur Fiedler hailed them as modern day Mozarts and I believe these learned musicians have enough knowledge about music to recognize true talent when they see it.

other than what you've read in some book or seen on the tube...???
Have you ever been here and traveled around?

Been there, from east and west. Jersey and Oregon. Got paid for some going too, though mostly in charlie.

If that's all you can say to negate my point, looks like I have a valid one.
What are you saying, that white people in America didn't accept Hendrix, but they accepted SRV because he was white? is that your valid point?
what is charlie?
I grew up in the 50's and 60's when there was segregation between whites and blacks, and yeah Hendrix wouldn't have been playing much in white clubs before he made it big,but there were plenty of white people seeing him before he died.
Have you been down South here?

No never went south, just east to west.
Firstly I didn't say Hendrix was unaccepted. Just that SRV was a white Hendrix clone, for white America. Product is marketed by racial distinction, wherever you go, in whatever market, particularly with music.

Ugh... Why are there so many of these threads? Why can't we just enjoy the music we enjoy and not be so intent on bashing other musicians? Music is an art, not a competition.

agreed...why is it that some people turn everything into a competition or bash others?...like only they know good music...when the real truth is that these people only know what good music is for themselves.

whys it matter? its simply matter of opinion. just cause one person thinks nirvana is the worst band ever doesn't mean everyone thinks that. its simply a conversation of opinions. nothing more, nothing less

It doesn't matter, it's just stupid whatever you call it.

I agree that everyone has an opinion, but its hard to argue that the beatles are the most over-rated band.
The fact that they have influenced so many bands is a sure tell sign they are not over-rated

A list of artists/bands that have covered The Beatles

Over-rated!?!
