Whos the most overrated group of all time?

Ever since them boys from RiverBottom have been here all I see are Pictures of clowns,WHATS WITH THESE CLOWNS ? Funny ? Funny How ?Like a Clown( :idea:

We have all we can stand and we cant sit down no longer anymore :shock:

So no pics of Clowns unless they are clowns who bash "real music" then we send in the clowns !

no i agree, and i didn't say all new music is bad, i'm saying a lot of it is, mostly the stuff on the radio, thats why i stopped listening to the radio LOL

i was sad when this thread started, no matter how innocently the question is posed it always leads to hurt feelings which leads to hate. We love various groups for various reasons and no matter how gently or with humor someones says they are over rated it will piss off the fan of that group. As a fan of the fender lounge and all the members please kill the personal attacks, fighting on the internet is like masturbating with a cheese grater: slightly amusing, but mostly painful. (insert Rodney King can't we all just get along quote here).

I hate to break this to you, but The Pixies and The Melvins are older than Nirvana... They qualify for nostalgia these days... :mrgreen:

And yes, I own ALL the Nirvana CDs, bootlegs and other rare Nirvana stuff... Heck I was retired (musically) for almost 10 years until I saw Teen Spirit on MTV when it first came out...

I'm a bass player, but unlike with Zeppelin and the Beatles, I can play all the Nirvana guitar (feedback included) parts on a 6-string....

Can we at least agree that the musicianship was better back in the day? I'm down with the old stuff, all the way through AIC and Sound Garden and then some... (Actually AIC & Sound Garden had some pretty good musicianship going on)...

But I can still appreciate Nirvana... What they lacked in musicianship, they made up for with serious groove.... And for the record, Kurt was highly influenced by the Beatles... You can actually hear it in the music if you listen closely....

I'm younger than any of the bands (15), so nostalgia does not apply.... I can't be nostalgic about something that I found out about 4 months ago.....

The one that instantly comes to mind is U2, but I also think 3 Doors Down and the Doors have to be in this conversation.

Now, as for the actual topic.....

I think the Black Keys are pretty overrated (NOTE: I am basing this off of what littel I have heard of them, so I could be wrong)... I've heard a few of their songs and 1) It just doesn't do it for me 2) I really don't see why people consider them some sort of "garage" revival (same with the Strokes).... IMO it sounds more like poppy rock/R&B run through a cool vocal effect (again,based on what little I have heard).

Dear Floyd- shut up. The reason I went off was becuase some lame dinkwheat started mouthing the greatest bands on Earth in the most worst way. Just trashing them like they are scum. I just can't let them get away with that. If it brought me down to thier level -- well I guess I did that to make them understand what was up. Fight fire with fire. Sometimes you just have to get down in the pit and have it out. I stand up for what those great bands were all about and for what the times were like in America. So when you bad mouth even English Bands of the early years that's un American.
I really wish some of the young guys on here were around back then. You may have a whole different viewpoint about putting the bad mouth on certain things and people. Take that to the bank and smoke it.

While you may know the definition of nostalgia, I am having grilled sausage with mashed potatoes. It's pretty good. Being that oi work unusual hours, I have my meals at odd times.

I've never gotten nostalgic about sausage but I have waxed nostalgic about the times gone by when i got to hear the originals when their songs came out for the very first time. I do feel sorry for those of you who never experienced something brand new and original. I'm not criticizing any of you, I'm just wondering what will be on the menu tomorrow.
