Ugh... Why are there so many of these threads? Why can't we just enjoy the music we enjoy and not be so intent on bashing other musicians? Music is an art, not a competition.

You know...the "can't sing/play, but writes great songs club".

Rick James........

this, except switch great with sub-par

Tom Petty and Bob Dylan are sub-par? Why don't you get your head out of your $@!? Every rock band (who's good) that's around today has TP and BD as their top influences. As far as I'm concerned the only sub-par songwriter here is you.

agreed...why is it that some people turn everything into a competition or bash others?...like only they know good music...when the real truth is that these people only know what good music is for themselves.

whys it matter? its simply matter of opinion. just cause one person thinks nirvana is the worst band ever doesnt mean everyone thinks that. its simply a conversation of opinions. nothing more, nothing less

Well theres no accounting for taste, as Zep managed to prove with all but 3 or 4 blues songs that they nicked off someone else and didn't completely mangle.
Zep get my vote, utter boredom incarnate. Theres a reason they didn't release singles, there managment knew they wouldn't sell.

SRV another great suggestion Nevin. Nothing but a rehashed overly heavy handed, nothing remarkable bluesplayer. All been done before. Another 'great' that didn't sell to anyone outside the guitar community. I stick by my original view, a white Hendrix clone for white America.

If the Beatles only have a couple of good songs..99% of bands would love to sell CDs and make the cash the fab 4 are still selling 40 0r 50 years later. Maybe its just not the same genre of music you prefer. I promise you this overrated or not NOBODY will ever be bigger.

Been there, from east and west. Jersey and Oregon. Got paid for some going too, though mostly in charlie.

If that's all you can say to negate my point, looks like I have a valid one.
