Thank you. Just because you don't appreciate a band or artist doesn't mean everyone else has to have your taste. Poison, Kiss, Nickleback Nirvana and many other top acts all have fans who don't think they're overrated. Except for Nirvana (for obvious reasons) they can still sell out their venues. I've seen Kiss and Poison and found both shows entertaining and feel that I got what I paid for. I've seen this same kind of low keyed flaming in car, motorcycle and other forums.

flaming would imply argument and name calling... so far your the only one doin it..... calm down dude

I don't think that stating what one thinks of a particular group or entertainer is really flaming,it's just stating a personal opinion or observance.Some groups or entertainers are truly over rated one glowing example is Justin Beiber,here's a kid with a mediocre talent and voice yet he has the puppy ddog look that pre pubescent girls just go Gaga over. His entire fan base is preteen girls and I think that we can all pretty well agree that these kid's knowledge of music is hardly developed or mature enough to know what constitutes good music.It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the fan bases of some groups are in the same boat.Take for instance some of this death metal that's so dischordant it has all the musical merit of a cat undergoing vivisection with a chainsaw yet they sell millions of recordings.To a serious musician this stuff is no more than a cacophony.

Any artist or group that the big 2 media moguls promote and market for profit.
The most underrated group or artists are those that do not get the backing of the media marketing empire.

Lots of bad karma here . . . but I think I'll spew some venom of my own.

I think many people don't understand the historical perspective of some of the bands they consider overrated. Bands like the Beatles, the Jimi Hendrix Experience and, on another thread, B.B. King, undoubtedly influenced your playing (or that of your particular guitar hero who influenced you), your rig, your songwriting, your production techniques, etc. They are very important to you whether you know it or not . . . and apparently you don't know it.

A couple of years ago on these very Forums, some troll trashed a few popular bands and, as an aside, felt compelled to add that Hendrix was overrated. Hendrix was overrated! I don't know why I let ignorant, ill-informed opinions like that get to me. I could only imagine that this person was a pimply, 15 year-old male with a single pickup guitar (humbucker in the bridge, of course) with a sunburst finish spray painted black to match his t-shirt, jeans and beanie. He probably thought that in 1966 Jimi could roll into the nearest Guitar Center and buy a Fuzz Face, Uni-vibe, wah or octave pedal just like he can today so what's the big deal?!

I'd like to take my own poll (but I won't) -- How many people think The Beatles are overrated, but the White Stripes are not? That result would speak volumes to me.

I hope I'll never be aggravated enough to reply to another one of these topics. If you ever see a reply from me on another one of these "best, worst, overrated" topics, please feel free to call me out and give me a verbal kick in the posterior. I'll deserve it . . . but I'll ask what you're doing here, too.

It's that I've really, honestly tried to listen to their stuff and discover the secret treasures that so many people claim to exist in their songwriting.

All I found was sheer boredom which eventually turned into disgust.

...and I've tried...I really have....

I have a similar feeling about another "classic" band

DEEP PURPLE

...which I've seen live in 2001.
Can't see the greatness. Maybe I'm incapable or just ignorant.
Their music is with no interest.

Everyone has mentioned almost ever band - its true that they are all over rated, but we just need to hear what we like as an individual and like it ourselves. not critisize a band cuz of what people say because thats what is making us talk about them. chain reaction.

the roling stones. one of my faves but. is iover rated. he downt even sing the whole verse anymore. just mumbels, gotta give him credit cuz he 70 now i think lol

and the "Sex Pistols" that was nothing more then a funny stoeey, ill still whare a T-shirt just for a joke lmoa

I don't need to say any more you have said it all Never did like those guys as a band, but individually they have had some great moments.
