Well my first guitar mentor died a few years ago. He always played a 2 color sunburst Strat this was back in the late 70's I think her got it used for a few hundred bucks, man it was in mint condition. So any way I find my self in Japan visiting a friend. So we go off to Kawasaki to a guitar shop. Man there was a guitar that reminded me of Lou's old strat so much..Well I went and got it.. I named it Bro, after Lou.. Here's to you Bro! Mark

Right now I got a Cari (for my acoustic), a Layla (my strat of course), Beatrice (the bass) and Eva (the amp)

I'm hoping to add a Jenn too with my new tele for christmas... :)

My car is also named Samantha (or Sammie for short...)

I have never named a guitar and don't understand the whole thing. It's a piece of gear!!!!

There is a song by Zac Brown Band called "Martin" that goes well with this topic. You might appreciate it. Check it out, pretty awsome!

Also i just turned in a short story for one of my college classes about a guitar named Virginia.

The naming of things "quick" (look it up in The Old Testament) makes perfect sense, here.

Consider a few "inanimate object" non-guitars with names.

King Arthur's sword, Excalibur

Roland's horn, Olifant

David Crocket's rifle, Old Betsy

Locomotives and trains often have names

Ships almost always bear names, many boats, too

Some gemstones have names

Almost all Stradivari and Guarneri violins bear names

Record-setting vehicles tend to carry names

Spacecraft often carry names

Combat airplanes and armoured vehicles often carry names

Pieces of artillery, too; Father's 240mm Mk I howitzer which went ashore at Utah Beach in Normandy was "Casino"

Shops and emporiums, especially small businesses

Streets....

Guitars tend to name themselves, in this experience.

Here, Siobhan is a Shell Pink '62 Reissue Jaguar

Angus is a black Line 6 bass named for our late big black Scottish Terrier

JoAnn is an Olympic White Jazzmaster...

My fiesta red Stratocaster is "Fiesta Red"

My see-thru blonde Telecaster is "Big Tex"

My tobbacco sunburst G&L F-100 is "Brownie"

...and they're all girls. I don't think I could hold a male that close to my heart & belt buckle at the same time.
