Well no only -6 and one o'clock in the afternoon. Bad enough.

GLOBAL WARMING?
I doubt it.

What the hell is going on? Just opened the back door to let the dog in and the air outside is shimmering from the heat difference between the houses heat and the outside cold. Like watching the heat of summer radiating off tarmac.
Is that normal? C'mon Canadian guys, let me know.

Yep thats normal. You got the worst weather than Toronto this time of year? That is strange. I can't speak for the whole Canada as we are bloody huge country with as many weather variables than you can shake stick at.

I am not looking forward our January and February when we hit -25 (-40 with wind chill on some days)

Bah, I bet you will hear a lot worst weather stories from our Western-ly forumites eh, Nevin and 12B.

Just heard off my bassist (brilliant bassist and outstanding weatherman), he reckons -17 tonight.

I need to get up into the attic and lag the pipes. Think I'll keep the heating on tonight.

Nice to know it's normal to see the heat difference. Last time we had weather like this, I spent my days out on building sites, so there was no temperature difference to see.

Mike we've between 6-9" of that white global warming all over the street. Frozen solid now too.

Anyway heres a great band to take the edge off.

i had to abandon the car last night and do a 10 mile hike to get home, when i got in the wife said my face was white with ice , it must have been around -17 or so last night , the roads were total mayhem , i left work at 12 noon and never got home till 1 am  , i'm cream crackered and my back is acting up something bad  almost time for more magic painkillers :D . and on a side note , i've been told to leave the car where it is by the police as the traffic isn't moving today either , great fun  NOT :D

OK, I had to find a conversion website. So -6 Celcius is only 15 Fahreneit. So you are having the same weather as me in Minnesota right now! Something is wrong over there on your isle. Three years ago I was in London during mid December for a few days and it seemed to be a relatively balmy 3 to 5 degrees C the whole time.

Absoulutley normal, and a nice winter temperature too (assuming thats celsius!)! Right now here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan it is a lovely -22 celsius (-8 fahrenheit). This is a typical Saskatchewan day. At least there is no wind or else it would be mighty brisk! I can't wait for January when it hits -30 or less!

Yoda, it's just not normal here. As 'Tropolis said 3-5C is about right for this place at this time of year (farenheight, what's that? Were in the 21st century now, not Victorian times  ).
Guess you Saskwatch's (is that right?) are more than used to it. In merry old England we deal more with perpetual damp, not cold. Even the summers are damp here. Scotland gets the cold, we get the wet.

Alan, -17C last night up your way:shock:
Wow mate, thats bloody cold. What happened with the car? Stuck or radiator? Been going out to mine every couple of hours and running it for a bit whilst I shovel snow off the street for a bit.

Gotta throw in the fahrenheit for our friends south of the Canadian border!

I assume you guys don't have block heaters on your cars then! I must be part eskimo because I haven't even taken out my winter jacket yet. I have just put a light spring jacket over my hoodie. I like to condition myself to the cold. If I break out the big guns at the first sign of snow, I will be so used to it by the time it hits -30 that jacket will be useless!

niki , it was brisk to say the least  the streets were total gridlock as were the motorways , dual carraigways ect due to the amount of snow , stuck lorries , abandoned cars ect , after sitting in the same spot for an hour and a half i said bugger this for a game of soldiers and legged it :D i walked along the dual carraigway from hamilton to motherwell and nothing moved in that time , the roads were 2 inches of solid sheet ice , i'll get the car tomorow sometime , if the roads are moving that is :D

Got my longjohns on, nothing's gonna stop me!

Yoda, guess were all a bunch of nesh git's to you then mate (google it).

Alan, coming over the Humber Bridge on Sunday was a bit of adventure. 4ft visibility on snow!

How do people get their cars stuck? I used to drive a rear wheel drive Capri round the Cotswolds in 2ft of snow when I was a kid. Just get the speed up and don't stop for nothing. Kind of a 40 mile organized slide

Alan atleast the police are being sound about it all and not fining you for parking eh mate, look on the brighter side.

Global Warming is a hoax.

Could be worse though, you could be facing the dilemma that Sonny Boy was facing

I drove London-Devon end of last week. Nice blizzards starting out which kept the roads conveniently clear of traffic. The snow was finished by Bristol but very cold and icey after that.

There's a couple of Forum users here from Devon and they will know what I'm getting at if I mention Haldon Hill with black ice all the way up. But it was no problem: we just roped up the cats and used them as huskies in front of the car.

You've got to improvise in these situations! :D

It was -8C / 17.6F over the weekend where I was. Nuttin'! I was out in my T-shirt on Dartmoor (looking for the paw prints of huge dogs in the snow).

Bring it on!

Cheers - C
