i'll gladly take my guitar center exclusive tele ($499.00)
and put it up aginst either of the two tele's you mentioned
and fear not for which tele you pick.
yep its made in mexi too. its a sweet guitar and sounds great.
it i ever get tired of the tone i can switch pups to about anything on the market and still have less in mine than you will either of those your looking at. i had it set up and threw 11's on it. its a smokin guitar indeed.

RICKYD.
i dont know what it is, we dont hear from you at all then when a tele post pops up your in there like swimwear. now how does that happen? :P

I'll throw in my two cents here as a Tele lover. I don't think you can choose a Tele for someone else, but having said that I recently got a new Fender Blacktop Series (MIM) Tele that is the greatest guitar I've ever laid hands on.
I wouldn't buy any Tele until I tried one of these. Everything about it is beautiful including the finish. Play it.

I have played two nashville teles. I preferred the sound of some highways 1s, some american specials, and definitely most standards over the nasville tele.

Now i gotta track down where i can play the baja tele. I haven't seen one around where i live yet....

The colour of the guitar is at the bottom of my list.My main criteria in buying a guitar are what it sounds and plays like everything else is secondary.I'd never buy a guitar that I wasn't completely satisfied with as is.I can't see people buying a guitar with intentions of ditching the pickups from the start. If I find a guitar that plays well but sounds bad I just move on.Even though I'm quite capable of doing just about anything with a guitar short of a fret install I prefer my guitars to be perfectly to my liking rather than having to make one suitable to my liking. My MIM Tele sounded and felt just right to me as is and I intend to leave it that way,the only change I'd ever consider is a 4 way switch but that's it.
