I was watching That Metal Show the other night and co-host Eddie Trunk brings up a good point about the RnR Hall of Shame, WTF is wrong with these people? Alice Cooper just got nominated? Deep Purple, Rush, Guns n Roses, and Iron Maiden aren't in? Yet madonna and ABBA are in?! Over people who actually contributed to rock n roll?!?!??!1?!?11!!! And Alice Cooper is only nominated, we don't know if he'll get in, KISS was nominated last and this year they're not on the ballot. SERIOUSLY!!!??? We gotta get these musically challenged retards out and get people in who actually nominate rock n roll artists. Who actually contribute to music and don't just spit in a microphone speaking out rhymes Dr. Seuss would reject! It's the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame! ABBA and Madonna aren't rock n roll!

Here are this years nominees:

Alice Cooper
Donna Summers
LL Cool J
Beastie Boys
Darlene Love
Tom Waits
J. Geils Band
Dr. John
Chic
Neil Diamond
Donovan
Laura Nyro
Joe Rex
Chuck Willis

you know who's not in?

Deep Purple
Iron Maiden
Rush
Ozzy
ELO
Boston
Bad Company
Ted Nugent
Peter Frampton
Thin Lizzy

it's the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame right?

Dont get me started on Rush NOT being in the hall of fame... even if you hate that band, you can't deny their influence on Rock... especially 70's Prog Rock.

jeez....

The whole thing has become so ridiculous that they have lost every bit of credibility they ever had,it's nothing but a popularity contest among the judge's friends and cronies-a complete scam and farce. I don't pay any attention to it now as it's not the least bit objective or credible.

I stopped caring or considering the RNR HOF relevant when they started playing the PC card and nominating cRap music and groups for induction. The fact that LL Cool J or other rappers are ever even mentioned in the same sentence as the RNR HOF is disgraceful.

I agree with the exception of Run DMC who are to Aerosmith as Clapton is to BB King.

I don't see that connection... maybe the "walk this way" thing but other than that just don't make the connection between a cRap group and a great Rock band. At least not like BB King and Clapton.

BB King (along with most other blues artists at the time) was brought back to relevance by Clapton and the rest of the British Invasion

In the same way Aerosmith was brought back to relevance by the "Walk This Way" cover

Also their album "King of Rock" has a lot of rock based songs

Edit: I'm not saying they deserve it more than any of the listed bands just that they should be the only rap group to be considered.

I've never even heard of some of those nominees.

Chic? Laura Nyro? Darlene Love? Who are these people?

And you know who else isn't in? Jethro Tull, Chicago, Yes, Dire Straits and Heart to name a few.

When Link Wray gets in, I'll pay more attention.

Meh, I don't really pay attention to the hall of fame part, I just like the museum part. Where else can I stare for an hour at Duane Allman's 59 Les Paul? Or the red tele that belonged to Muddy Waters? Besides, some of those people you mentioned may not be technically "in", but they have some of their stuff in the museum already so it is just a matter of time. For example, Ozzy might not be in as solo but they have Randy Rhoads's custom polka-dot V right in there (stared at that for about an hour.). As far as Madonna and ABBA, who cares? A good museum can't just have one type of painting, it should represent all genres of that art. How good would a football hall of fame be if it had just quarterbacks and running backs? I know Eddie Trunk wishes it were just a hard rock n' roll museum, but frankly rock n roll is such a generic term that it encompasses almost all of modern music. So please, don't be like Eddie Trunk and dwell on who's in and who's not, it's not about that. Although it would be nice to stand in awe of Neil Peart's drum kit or the Eddie statue from the World Slavery Tour <_<.

Meh. Who cares?

Did you ever go to buy a ticket or a CD and then pause, asking yourself; "Wait, is this band in the Hall of Fame?"

After all, rock and roll is about being on the outside, not the inside. Nuts to 'em.

Cheers - C
