found a guy who has been collecting ( hoarding ) guitar parts since the early to mid 70's. im headed out to his house tomorrow to look at and pick up a few things. im taking two from my collection over as a
show and tell type of deal as hes promised to do the same. after talking with him for about an hour on the phone i cant imagine what he has for me to look at. this should be fun and hes promised that i'll come home paying pennies on the dollar for the stuff that im after.
im picking up 3 or 4 tremolos and several pickup sets, along with odds and in's for building up or hot rodding a few guitars.
why i posted this i have no idea but im excited lol.

Well, good luck with your odds and ends hunting.

Grab a 1975 Strat pickup for me if you can ...

wow what a score. i did good. yes its waycool's version of american pickers
thats for sure. ok let me show ya what i got.
ok i went with just a bit of cash. i had a few items i knew i wanted and
had just enough for that. leaving my wallet at work yesterday was not a good move on my part trust me. Doh!

ok in this pic you will see a fender stock tremolo.
i bought this because in throwing together a partscaster and
putting it on CL or ebay just to see what i can move and how fast.
you will also see a brand new wilkinson trem in gold.
i bought this thinking red strat body, pearloid pickguard, eith rosewood or maple neck w/ blk headstock and matching gold tuners, and blk
either noiseless pups, texas pups, or 50's set of singles.
the pup is a bridge VV blues. i have a HW1 coming that it might sound good in. plus there is a blk set of shaller strap locks, nice for my recent buy on my blk HW1.

Image

total cost, $50

next in the corner was this 1x12 cab. its a bit bigger than my blues jr
and even has an open back option. its an iminence cab.
should do very nicely for the egnator rebel 20 im getting in january.
after a while i'll buy 2 1x2 egnator cabs for the head.

Image

Image

price, $10.00 (yes thats the number after 9)

lastly comes this lil jewel.
for you older cats can you tell me anything about this amp?
yes its a champ, thought to be around a 65-68.

Image

price, better not tell you now lol.
did i do good or what? there is tons more stuff but i promised my g.friend i would wait until after xmas before i keep spending.
plus two amp stands a $30 no pics sorry guys.

Nice amp. Getting stuff for deals like that is very stimulating.

I'm glad to hear someone is stimulating the economy.

Looks like someone found the spare keys to the brewery
About "American Pickers", I turned it off after seeing it was not a show about musicians in America.
Good luck with that model "T" Champ, bare knukled bruiser that keeps coming.
Enjoy,
John.E

The Champ appears to be a '68 as I believe that was the only year they used the "driprail" trim around the cabinet and the silverface came out in 68 as far as I know and earlier Champs would have been blackface. A buddy of mine has a 70 Champ that's almost identical.

The Champ Amp is a '67 or a '68, hallmarked via the "blackline" front panel (these were discontinued at the start of the 1969 model year. Look for an inkstamp somewhere on the chassis itself that will reveal the week and year that it was assembled.

The trannies will likewise be dateable by their EIA production codes. Look for embossed numbers formatted thus:

606-XXX (Schumacher) or 831-XXXX (Better Coil & Transformer, PT only).

The final set of digits indicate when that part was made.

These amps are great little porch weasels and for a treat, try wiring that one to your favorite 4-ohm cabinet then diming the amp. You'll see......

Great score, WCJ!

Arjay

thanks arjay. its on hold at present. my money ran out lol.
there is still tons of pickups, pickguards, pickup covers, jacks, pedals,
amps, etc etc. the guy also does pedal mods. might get some training on that end if i can.
everything is coming together. ive found a supply of bodies and a supply of internal parts. now im looking for necks and i think ive found the guy for those too.
