I would check with your school.... Im sure they will be able to help in the lesson dept. Usually the band instructor knows the ins and outs of local music teachers

Welcome to the world of guitar brandnew,good for you for getting your son interested into guitar.Others have given you more than enough great info to get him good and grounded in playing.I didn't notice if anyone mentioned an electronic tuner but that's pretty well a must for a beginner although it's also essential that he learn to tune without one down the road. My parents bought me my first guitar when I was 10 and I'm completely self taught but have played professionally since I was 15. Do whatever you can to hold his interest and encourage him.You must stress to him that he won't become as "good" as the Jonas Brothers overnight and that it takes time to become good at guitar.Also the Jonas Bros. are to good music what McDonalds is to fine dining ,try to diversify his interests but don't force anything on him.If you could pick up a cheap little beater guitar to learn along with him that may give him even more incentive to learn.Good luck and keep us posted-we're always here to lend a hand.
