Hey everyone! I'm going to record some sound clips of my Blackout Tele to put a review/demo video together as it's something I've been asked to do a few times through my YouTube Videos. My question for you guys is this. Should I use multiple amps to get an idea of the scope of tones that can be achieved, or should I just use one amp and a common multi-effects pedal? I want to give people an idea of the kinds of tones they can squeeze out of this guitar, so I'm thinking some average gear will be the best way to go, considering that most people buying a guitar in this price range may not have top of the line amps.
So what's your opinions? Should I record with the best I have, or with the type of equipment most purchasers of this guitar will already have at home?

If you're demoing the guitar, plug it into a basic as hell amp, leave the amps dials alone. Thats it, record that.

You're demo'ing the guitar, not the gear. Anything else is a vanity along the lines of 'oh look at my gear'.

If you're demo'ing the guitar then the guitar is all it needs to be.

Kinda what I've been leaning toward Niki. I think the old Peavey Bandit's gonna get some use for this one. I've never demo'd anything before so, this should be interesting. I do however watch lots of demos before I buy any new gear, and it frustrates the hell out of me if they're not thourough or leave out a pickup switch position because they don't like it. I think I'll get the audio and video set up over the next few days and see how it comes out. I've recorded all my original music on this guitar and have gotten some amazing tones, so I think this'll be a pretty easy guitar to demo.

See, what get's me is that they'll demo XXX guitar into XXX tone robbing amp with a million channels and 170,000 types of effect. Mic'd with a plutonium composite condenser mic', outboarding into the nasa control tower of a console.

And all I want to hear is the guitar. We all know roughly how Fender, Marshall, Peavey and Bogey amps sound.

Set a sound on your amp, out a mic'/interface on it and play the guitar mate.

Be honest, don't mask it, thats for people that are trying to sell magazines. One of the reasons I pay no heed at all to any magazine review. You gotta have a very very sharp ear to hear the difference between a les paul and a strat on record/mp3/CD. Despite them both being very different instruments. Outboard has a lot to answer for!

You make another good point sir.
I think my setup will be basically this:
Either Peavey Bandit 60 or Johnson RepTone 60 amp.
Close mic'd with an Audio Technica AT813 electret condensor mic. I figure that's a pretty average setup and something that will take away from the tone as little as possible.
That AT mic that I have has been a workhorse for me for about the past 10 years, and what I love so much about it is how accurately it records guitar and piano. So I think I'll be able to do this guitar justice by not overdoing anything in the technical end and leaving the effects alone.
Thanks for the advice Niki...
I'll post the demo up here in the forums when it's done as well.

From a psychological standpoint:

The Gestalt of tone is = The tone is greater than the sum of its parts.

I.e., the sound/tone of what you hear is of greater value than each indiviual component that makes up the sound/tone.
