My mum bought my first guitar when I was 10 or 11. It was a gorgeous Framus arch top guitar. $400 back in 1969 was a pretty penny indeed. It sounds better than it was. The guitar was problematic. It was years later when I learned WHY the guitar was such a POS. The guitar had a 3/4 size body which was appropriate for my child sized body but it was fitted with a full sized neck. Unfortunately they did not allow for that hybrid-fact when it came time to glue the bridge to the beautiful solid spruce top and they placed it the same as any other 3/4 size guitar. As you can imagine, intonation was always out ... by several miles not just one.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

My first 6-string was a Decca that my sister had and gave to me. action was terrible and intonation? what was that? A friend told me about a guy who had a silvertone f-hole acoustic. I bought it for 15 dollars. I slept with that guitar. Played it for probably 10 years off and on. Another friend was putting together a guitar collection so i gave it to him. Now it's hanging on the wall in a room full of guitars.

My dad bought me my first guitar, it was a Rossetti hollow body acoustic with cutaway, a white one and it cost seven quid.
My first electric was a Rossetti Airstream 3.

Thanks guitslinger, didn't really pamper her, it's fiberglass and the color is molded in. It's yellowed a bit, but it's really hard to scratch. A little car wax and she's good to go.

My first guitar/amp in case was a Silvertone model 1448. My dad bought it for me when I was 10 years old. Looked like this one,
http://vintagesilvertones.com/forsale_g ... -1448.html
My first real amp and probably the best one I've ever owned.
One of the most rugged ones too. I put this amp through hell and back. It never died, I just got rid of it for some unknown reason. Wish I had it back!!

1st Guitar - Cheap acoustic received on Christmas Day 1967
1st Electric - Japanese "Prestige" 2-pickup model (only one worked)
1st Amp - '60s-era Alamo tube amp made in Texas (where else with a name like that). I wish I had it today.

Bought my first guitar when I was around 12. A 1964 Epiphone Granada and Ampeg amp. Took me 2 years of delivering papers to pay my dad back for the loan. Still have the guitar.

I refer to mine as a K-Mart Special/waste of good plywood.
I got it cheap at a K-Mart years ago, when I tried to learn the first time.
I never bonded with it, and got a good one about a year & a half later, an MIJ classical that was pretty good. I still ave it, and actually consider it my first guitar-or at least my first real guitar.

1st guitar was a Univox copy of a Les Paul Custom. I had it modified with original Dimarzio Super Distortion / Dual Sound Pups. This was in 1975. The pups cost me $25 each back then. It's still around, over at my ex-mother-in-laws!

Not my first guitar (my 5th actually), not my first Fender ('71 Mustang), but it's my first Strat -- the venerable Black No. 1 -- which turns 25 next year.

My first guitar was a red Audiovox electric bass from the Lafayette catalouge back in the 60s. Loned it to a guy, joined the Army, came back and never saw him or that bass again. My first amp was pulled out of my Aunt's RCA tv stereo console. I do remember getting shocked a lot.

Epi les paul 100. It was a great first, but then i played a epi les paul elite custom at a local guitar shop and had to have it. I got it for my 16th birthday and donated my 100 to a yardsale for my high schools jazz band. my parents almost killed me :P
