Slow down and make your notes more deliberate. You will speed up in time.

when it comes to soloing (whch by the way, i dont do much at all) it is hard to play slow fopr me. but i guess it'd make my notes sound more deliberate, yeah your right

Practice a few notes at a time. Look up some Albert King solo,s on you tube and you will get the idea. Speed comes in time you will learn alot by slowing down. You may really start to like what you hear. You will find tone. Practice bending and vibrato.

Excellent advice. Also with the slow and deliberate. I'm no Gilmour but I definitely am of the mind "if you can't play it slow, you can't play it fast" Also helps to get to know a few scales that tickle your fancy. Keep it up squier.

It sounds like San Francisco in the 60s. Groovy. I'd say you're on the right track. Hammer down! 8)

scales, even if you are aiming for non melodic solos, are very useful..... once you learn some scales blues improv becomes insanely fun 8)

You need to slow down quite a bit and work on your scales just a bit at a time so that eventually you can run them together into a more meaningful solo.Speed only sounds good when all the notes are clear and well articulated.Slow and easy is the best way to start, trying to go fast right from the start will only end up in frustration.Just one more little bit of advice the guitar sounded too brittle and high on the treble you need to get a bit more bottom into your tone to mellow out the raspy quality of the tone.Keep plugging away, it takes a long time to become really adept at the guitar and you definitely have the determination.

YouTube is my favorite place for learning new stuff. Everything from very beginner to pro and everything in between. Just type in guitar scale lesson, or beginner guitar scale lesson. I think you'll find what you need. And the desire to learn is the most important tool to have.

Here's a video that covers a few of the bases.

I thought Robert Fripp, here he is with King Crimson

all of the suggestions so far have been very good, what you listen to helps as well, improvisation and exploration push one another forward (there might be a better way of expressing that, Ceri, Claude, Niki, or any other Bros).
