what's up my fellow forum bros, just wanted to mention i was working at target on black friday from 3:45am to 12pm. it wasn't as bad as i thought it'd be, but still crazy. i went home and crashed on the chair, then it was back up at 12:30 on saturday to work at 2am. can't wait to see my paycheck this week though, i got a lot of extra hours in.

anybody get a good deal on any guitars or pedals on friday?

-Jake :P

Glad you survived those two long days. This time of year I don't envy anyone who works in retail. I hope the extra money you made is put to good use. I for one stayed away from all retail stores the entire weekend. Too many shoppers. Both my kids are getting married in the next four weeks, so I have spent a lot of money on weddings. My wife and I are going to down play our Christmas gifts to each other this year.

I hear that! I used to work retail for many years. The last retail job I had was CD store manager. That place is CRAZY busy at Christmas, especially Boxing Day here in Canada. I used to work at an electronics store and I have seen people take things out of other peoples hands during Boxing Day sales! I don't miss that at all! I also got married in October and we had a baby earlier this year. We had to pay for most of the wedding ourselves. On top of that we bought thank you gifts for everyone who helped at our wedding. Its going to be a modest Christmas this year. I don't think I'll be getting that Epi Les Paul I've been hinting at!

I got A Squier CV 60's custom for $350 at my local music store (I put it on layaway, so I can make it more of a Christmas gift) It'll be my beater guitar for college, and maybe soon I'll put some fender noiseless pups, a graph tech nut, and possibly a replacement bridge on it 8) I've always wanted a guitar to get to really tinker with, changing out the hardware and stuff

However, it sounds pretty awesome being stock. I love the way it feels as well, and I overall prefered it over a blacktop tele I was looking at.
With the extra bucks, I am thinking about getting a EHX big muff w/ tonewicker as well...

yodacaster,
Thanks for the insight on retail work during the holidays. I guess anyone who works retail could tell horror stories on how some shoppers act. Congratulations on your marriage.
Jimbo612,
Enjoy your Christmas present. You only have to wait 25 more days.

Thanks for the congrats guys! Due to my previous retail experience I don't even leave the house on Boxing Day. I hate crowds to begin with but those crowds are just stupid. Besides most places only have a handful of the cheap hot ticket item and 100 people are waiting outside in the freezing cold for hours just to get one. I'd rather stay in my nice warm bed!

I have never done the Black Friday thing before (I don't celebrate Christmas), but I just had to go out for a couple of deals I saw....

I got a (second) MXR M-66 Classic Distortion for $35 at Guitar Center in Fort Worth, and two MP3 players (one for the Armadillo Child, one for myself) for $28/each at Big Lots.

The Armadillo Child and I have had fun arguing over what songs are "worthy enough" to go on the MP3 players...she wanted every song in my CD collection, but I don't think a nine-year-old is ready for some of the lyrical content...plus, 4GB isn't enough for my entire collection anyway.

PS Isn't it funny how all the GC haters are dead silent regarding the 15% off Black Friday, 10% off Black Saturday & Sunday (no limitations on what brand)?
