I'd most likely be partial to Gibson. In fact I used to be a Gibson man, never really cared for Fenders. That all changed a few years ago though when I got a few shots of a strat. Any misgivings quickly vanished.

With no Fender in the picture I'd probably have a Duesenberg or two, I do like them.

"Japanese companies, well as they say..." Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ". Due to the Japanese tendency to copy first then perhaps innovate
this one is a big question mark if at all..[/quote]

Well said, '53 Magnatone. 'Bought a few Ibanez lawsuit copies of Gibson then-out-of-production guitars in the mid 70s, and they were SO nice, still have them. The Thunderbird copy is a fave for church bass, especially.

But since Ibanez went "original," 'have not bought one since.

well, thats a tough one. i would prob play a gretsch (assuming they would still be in business). i like the looks of the les pauls and jet models, don't like the gibson humbuckers tho, too much mud for my style, but the tv jones humbuckers are great with my vox. but lucky for FMI, they are here and i have my tele and they now have gretsch. :)

I don't know. My 1st electric was a squier mini strat, but in the long run the first guitar I COVETED was the Les Paul. Maybe it was because my dad played a 1976 tobbaco sunburst lp custom, or maybe it was because I was listening to Kiss alot back then. If my dad played a tele, it probably wouldn't have took me so long to love teles ( I played the hot rod 52 RI tele this year, and now I am addicted ). I remember when I was so young I didn't KNOW guitars, but I knew music, even though I couldn't really play. I would just strum the open strings. I have to say, back then Rics and Gretsches really appealed to me. I was raised on humbuckers. Probably Gibson, although I really do not agree with some of their business practices. So I guess PRS. Hey theres a new idea: what would you play if neither Fender OR Gibson existed. Then again, if them two hadn't came around, others wouldn't have. Heck without those two some of us probably wouldn't have been born! Ah what rock n roll does.

haha thats true dude! my folks listened to a lot of AC/DC, Guns n' Roses and ZZ Top right about the time i was born.

its kind of a funny thought ya know? my old man was a rocker. but its kind of nasty thinkin that rocker dad knocked rocker mom up with sweet child o mine softly playing in the background.. please excuse me, i need to throw up now.
