here is what i was thinking, in 2007 my friend chance was killed, and just wheni got over the loss, my grandpa passed away. i was thinking about doing something to express the pain for their sudden passing. prolly nothing with names or dates because i know i will have more friends and family pass as the years go on.

as i was looking up some pics i had some other cool ideas:

maybe a symbol or picture or something on the inside of my forearm, i dont know yet.

on the inside of my upper arm maybe a bible verse, like romans 8:28, because i ran into some trouble a few years ago, but because of it, it made me a better person.

a cross on my calf perhaps

just some things i found and thought would be cool.

I have two tattoos so don't take this as an anti-tattoo thing... if you're asking for ideas on what tattoo to get on an internet chat room, you're not ready to get one.

I do a website for a guy who owns a tattoo/piercing shop. He was one of my students back in the early 90's. I went to visit him three days ago to discuss some particulars on his website... and he had the latest Musician's Friend catalog out on his instrument table. We talked about guitars for a bit as we always do. 30 minutes later....

you can find some of his work at the site I developed for him:

If you don't get a first tat, then you won't be posting "suggestions for a second tattoo". Or posting"removal of a tat".

I have none (and will get none), but I always wonder what those Chinese characters actually say...

My daughter's 1st grade teacher got one that supposedly said, "Teacher, guide, instructor"

I picked on her and told her it said, "I am a prostitute."

She got worried for a few moments until she saw my wife smirking.

I have a dozen of them. The one people notice and comment on the most is a large Rose that a artist free handed on my forearm. My favorite is an Angels face with Her wings opened up behind her.

This is really excellent advice.

A tattoo is an id'ing mark.....I won't get one and even at age 57 I feel I might need to hide out someday. 8)
I can't do anything about fingerprints....or won't.

Probably much like the Buddhist "Knot of Eternity" on my right deltoid.

Here is a pic from the day I got it done.

Now to the original Poster, don't get inked until YOU decide what you want. Tattoos are permanent, so make sure that whatever you choose has significance to you.

That's a real Celtic knot. People often confuse my Buddhist symbol with various Celtic Knots.

Like several other people have said. Don't get a tattoo for the heck of it. Took me 56 years to find something that meant enough to me to take that step. I've been playing Fenders for 46 of those years. It was a safe bet.

Get something that means something to you. But the main thing, please go somewhere good that will cost you a bit of money, it's going to be with you for life.

Exactly, in a few years you may not like what you do now.

For both of my tattoos I waited two years after first drawing them and they both represent a personal passion.
