ok im looking at two pups here. i was told they came out of an ibanez
but im not to sure. ibanez uses dimarzio if i remember correctly, and they are 4wire i believe.
i could very well be wrong.
has anybody ever seen pups that look like these?

Yea, they look like stock Ibanez pickups.. You can get those for about $10-$15 a piece.

I'd have to say that the wire colours don't look right for Dimarzio. And there's only two wires. I thought Dim' always outed four wires.

agreed. i thought dimarzio and ibanez were in business, that all ibanez came with dim's in them.

Not stamped with "DiMarzio" on them? Or a "designed by" like Seymour Duncan does..

Do a GOOGLE of Dimarzio pickups images. I see ones that 'look" like yours but they have "dimarzio" stamped on them. Also, does that "wire" coming out of them hold more than one conductor?

no stamp that i see. sometimes a company will supply another company with items and not put their name on them.

Those are outright imported pickups and NOT DiMarzios.

You'd have to meter them to get the Henries reading (among a few other measurements). Most people don't have this kind of sophisticated equipment so they use a Volt-Ohm-Meter to measure the pickup's DC resistance. Although measuring the DC resistance isn't always an accurate indicator of a pickup's output and tonality, in your particular situation, it will give you a 'ballpark' indication. Using this method, anything beyond say, the high 7K ohms area would be considered a 'hotter' pickup.

Your meter probably offers a 20k range amongst its settings on the knob: so then just put one probe on the pickup's input and another on the output (doesn't matter which way around) and read off the number in the screen. If it is somewhere between about 6 and 12k you are likely getting the right reading.

My meter has a whole lot of wires and inputs and being an electronics dunce I always have to check the instructions to make sure I'm using it right. But a reading in approximately the right range will be a clue that you are.

DC resistance ain't going to tell you everything you need to know about your pickups, but it's a start...

Cheers - C

EDIT: oops - written at the same time as Martian's post above and not meant to be second guessing him...
