not sure where this should go if not here; I've been itching to build a strat to match some specs and details I've been wanting for a while and I just can't bring myself to alter my 80's superstrat or my '76. So to get my hands dirty so to speak I'm going to tear down and rebuild an old Aria proII I've had sitting around for ages. It's dying for a refinish and a bit of freshening up in the electronics dept. I figure it's a good way to learn how to lay down a nice smooth nitro finish as well as ending up with a guitar I like to play. the neck feels pretty good to me, but the tone just doesn't interest me all that much. Pretty much generic early 90's grunge stuff. Booooring... Plus it's ugly as sin. From the factory it was competition yellow, but someone rattle-canned it dark eggplant purple. might have been nice if it was smooth and not full of flaws and runs.

Anyways, any advice on stripping the old paint, prepping for a nitro finish, finishing, recommended sources of supplies, you get the idea. No sense reinventing the wheel with all the experience here to learn from.
