Posted this in the Youtube thread, but I thought it'd fit here too. Blondie hits 40 this year. Debbie still sets the standard for me. So many of the modern women in music have taken what they do from her. Almost 40 years at the time this was taped and she's still killing it. The band, too. Coming out of the CBGB's scene with The Ramones they went on to be superstars. Yet never seem to get their due by the later generations of punk rock fans. Those of us old enough to remember the 70's. Even if we were little, remember. If I had to pick women in rock who inspired me. The top three on my list are easily Debbie, Siouxsie, and Joan with Chrissie Hynde being a close fourth. If I had to pick the most musically prolific of all the bands to come out of the punk scene Blondie certainly holds their own against the Clash for me. Hope you dig it.

Stone cold... i was over in japan and trolling for music with one of my exchange students from years before. The shop owner knew i loved the 5.6.7.8's and told me to look in the last 2 bins (garage punk stuff). i blind bought their "afro girl" on vinyl and when i got back to Korea with the album i played it and couldn't believe their sound. Since then i have picked up everything they have done. I wish the singer would not have died because they really kicked my butt in a good way and i want more.

Here is an interesting experimental guitarist named Noveller (Sarah Lipstate) whom I saw last month opening for St. Vincent. If you like ambient or atmospheric music you may be interested in checking her out -- she does some pretty cool stuff with her Fender Jaguar, a looper and a delay pedal...
