I bought this amp for practice amp to reduce power consumption due to 10 hours a day or more of use. For more than 20 years I have owned Fender Super Reverb, Fender Concert Amp, and Dual Showman; the tone response on this amp at all levels of amplitude and frequencies is classic Fender with low noise filter…kudos’ to Fender amp design in that category. And the Overdrive Channel is really nice. Also, I love the use of Classic Fender early 60’s Styling on the Black version of the 25R! (It makes me all Misty! LOL) The speaker in this amp is OK but weak and does not do this amp justice; I recommend speaker upgrade to maximize full potential of this amp. The only really Critical issue for me on this amp is the lack of a separate line out with variable potential control. The manual says that the earphones jack can be used as line out but that it turns off the speaker on the amp when in use. What is Fender thinking? This amp would be almost perfect as a studio source monitor amp or on stage monitor to P.A if it had a separate line out! Almost all of Fender’s competitors in this size amp provide a separate line out and it probably would only cost Fender Manufacturing less than $1.50 worth of material per unit to add a separate variable line out. There should also be (2) footswitch operation, one for overdrive and one for reverb on and off. This Amp would be a perfect 10 with these inexpensive but vital changes!

I will note some of the changes you suggest.

I have a Line-6 Spider Jam and it's cool. But I still love the Fender sound... this amp really delivers the crisp clean Fender mids to highs and it also produces the thump on lower notes and power chords you would expect to only get on larger amps. For the money, its way COOL! And it only uses like 75 watts of electric power, so you can leave it on all day and night without breaking the utility bank!

Problem is, maybe the currently installed electronic board(s)/circuits
cannot handle a few more gizmos without a redesign of the internals.
Even if it could, Fender would still have to raise the price to recoup
the costs. :!: :!:
Believe it or not, Fender does make an amp with those specs....
It'll just cost a little more though, it's only money...........they're
confidant you'll make more of it.

Actually, I will install a Record Line-Out with Volume Control on this amp by tapping solder points of headphone out on circuit board with low noise shielded cable run to mono jack with via a series potentiometer for volume control. This will allow me to either play this amp as onstage monitor while also plugged into P.A. producing emulated Fender sound to P.A. input, or I can use Headphones while plugged into a recorder from the separate newly installed Recording Line-Out Jack! And it will only cost me about $10 or $12 bucks to get it done…Fender could do it for a lot less with power of bulk purchasing.

Just thought I would say that the current Frontman 25R makes for
a great poor man's solid state stereo speaker as a pair.
Through a Mackie mixer with tone controls really brings it out sounding good.

Pair it with two current rumble bass 150s and you got low end for.
Add a pair of blues deluxe RI for that tube warmth.
Tweaked and eq'd just right, and you've got a classy sound system that can be
used for your recorded music and stereo tv.

Just sayin.
