Well, I bought a GFS Steel block for my Roadhouse Strat. I'm not one for gimmicks, But I knew the standard pot metal block could be a little better, The guitar sounded "good" stock. I was thinking about the Callaham, and a couple of others, But it's kind of hard to part with $160 Bucks when the bills keep coming in. I ordered the Steel Block Bridge assembly from GFS, for about $40.00. I just got it delivered today at work. I came home and started putting it in. after installing it setting 5 springs on it so its decked, and a quick intonation, There is a big difference. Better Sustain, a lot better, It sounds Brighter, so I turned the treble down on my amp to about 6 1/2 The baby Screams on distortion , I think it was Well worth the $45 Bucks I spend and I am Happy with it no end. So, I just wanted to let anybody else on as tight a budget as I'm on, That the Steel Block Upgrade from GFS is a cheap upgrade that is In my opinion very worthwhile. 8)

+1

The steel trem block generally makes for a somewhat brighter tone, with some enhanced sustain and tuning stability.

Rawk on!

I was thinking of doing this to what's left of my 93 Korean Strat.

Looks like this is my next project. Thanks for the tip. :D

I was checking these out at this site... i'm thinking of going with the Brass block instead of the Steel one, since my Strat is already on the bright side. Anyone have any experience with using a Brass trem block?
