Okay, living on the west coast, I've always been proud of the musical environment and history around me.
So, I have a question? What is your favorite California band from the past or present?

Hamilton Streetcar. They were a Los Angeles based band in the late 60's and opened for several bands that made it big.

My cousin was the lead singer for this band.

There's a San Diego band called The Plot to Blow up the Eiffel Tower that only lasted about four years but they were an awesome sort of hardcore punk. And the singer played the sax, so that's automaticaly makes them cool.

$4.00 to see Jim Morrison, can you imagine what it would cost to see him today (if he were alive that is)?

Yeah, but today's bands just haven't had the same time to achieve the status that the Doors have (but I guess someone could have said the same thing about the doors in 1967).

Yeah but I say the same thing about Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, etc. Its all relative. Sorry about the hijack.

Another favorite California band from more recent times is Stone Temple Pilots. Man they rocked it hard and heavy.
