while driving home this afternoon dan fogelbergs's "leader of the band" came on the radio. i always thought it was a great tribute to his dad, and it's been a while since i heard it.

about nine years ago my dad suffered a stroke at the age of 71. he is in a wheelchair now. it was tough for him because he was working right until the day it happened.

he bought me my first guitar, encouraged my playing, and drove me to gigs when i was too young to drive. he also taught me the value of life-about saving money-and mostly that hard work pays.

as i listened to the song today, everything in there was just like it was wriiten about my dad. it just about brought me to tears.

we know that music can effect your emotions. how about giving us a song that has a special meaning to you?

If 6 Was 9 by Jimi Hendrix pretty well sums up the way I am,I've always marched to my own drummer, I have always followed my own mind and I never was influenced by fads and what others may have thought was cool. Voodoo Child(slight return) also hits the right chord with me.

"The Tears of a Clown" is a 1967 song by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles

although I am not a fan of clowns the lyrics to this song are inspiring to me, in addition, I don't hear many good things about Michael McDonald but his delivery on this song along with his back-up band and vocalists is a perfect tribute to Smokey.
