Sure Jimi would be proud. Remember Jimi did Dylan covers, Chuck Berry and even the Beatles "Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band".

I thought it was interesting.

I think the reason SRV was credited instead of Hendrix is that she is copying Stevie's version pretty much note for note.

Thanks for sharing...

A glockenspiel is similar to the xylophone. That instrument didn't look or sound anything like a glockenspiel. LOL

She is very talented! I checked out some of her other stuff and it was great also. When I build my secret fortress in the far east, I will have her playing in the main dinning room. Yes.

In this way, the music never dies. However, Jimi was not an "Obscure" artist....I think that since Jimi was such an influence on SRV, he wanted to pay homage to his hero....and if its true that imitation is the best form of flattery, then I think Jimi would be proud. Flame if you want, just my opinion.

+1 I actually liked it a lot too. Little Wing is one of my favorite songs, and SRV's version is the best IMO. If you don't get that weird feeling like someone just punched your guts out when you hear it then there's something wrong with you. lol Seriously, SRV's Little Wing is probably the only song which has actually brought me to tears on a day when there wasn't really anything to cry about.

As for who gets the credit, I think the video is for sure a cover of SRV's version, not Jimi's. So therefore, the credit is correct. As for who wrote the song, everyone knows who deserves that credit. :)

why is it that everytime Little wing is brought up
the " Stevie haters " always come out and talk
about his version is not as good or he is not original
and their general lack of Interest in this master playing
ability . Yes thats right I said master because he was
his proficiency on the electric guitar is beyond the limits
of mere mortals . Jimi (while in my opinion the most innovative)
of all guitarists on that particular song left me wanting more
it is around 3 min or less he builds into this amazing solo and then
trails off. SRV 's verision on the other hand plays almost like
an orchestral piece with different movements building and then
releasing tension like a bat out of hell . Also his version has
practically every guitar technique known to man (or woman
texasguitarslinger) harmonics, hammer ons, pull offs
tremolo picking , chording major and minor all over the neck
and then adding decorative phrases on the chords soft playing
than all out hard core solos his work (ONCE again in my opinion)
on this particular piece is masterful give it another listen

on a side note when asked who my favorite guitarist or who
the best is I respond thusly,
Jimi Hendrix is the most Innovative player ever and creative
Stevie Ray Vaughn is the technically the best player ever the
accuracyof his playing live is unrivaled
Eric Clapton however is my favorite becuase of
the way I feel when I listen to him his playing
pulls at the deepest parts of my soul

but enough rambling I've been up too long
working the nightshift

On a trivial note, when Eric and Duane and the guys recorded Little Wing,Jimi was still alive, but probably never heard it.
To me that's not a copycat move, just like when Hendrix did the first live version of Sgt.Pepper,WITH some Beatles in the audience.
That takes stones,imho.

The person who uploaded that glockenspiel player vid needs to be shot for crediting a good composition to a copycat.

The former is a playing a koto, the latter is either an idiot or uniformed. The punishment is too dear. Tied to a wall and forced to listen to the entire Hendrix catalog will suffice.
