Thank you Gary and Marky. Here is the link to Manny's https://www.mannysdeli.com/

Looks like a nice place to eat. I love those deli's and their food is fantastic!

Yes Marky, Manny's has been there for many years. My first visit Jackie Mason was doing an interview for public television. After trying most of the menu items over the years I decided that Thursday's were my favorite. Chop suey day, who would have thought chop suey at a Jewish deli could be so delicious.

 That Pizza from the Italian deli I spoke of was made by Filipinos, except for the pepperoni, and the deli has an über fantastic bakery with traditional Italian goodies and that too is operated by Filipinos. Go figure. I don’t think they make the gelato and certainly not the wine though. :P
As Jackie would say, “Let me tell you this about that”. We have a large Jewish community here in the ‘Peg, and my favourite Jewish Deli/Cafe is Bernstein’s where I pig out on their Bison cheese burger (no fries, etc.) when I have spare change. It costs a whopping $18.00. or $22.50 American. Crazy Gentile, huh?

Yes FSB Bison burgers are the best. I had the pleasure of consuming one at a gig in Rogers Park but I can't remember the name of the club/venue. They're kind of pricey up your way, mine was on the house as part of payment for the nights entertainment. When ever we played somewhere that served food we would always negotiate so dinner was included. Drinking establishments we negotiated for drink tickets for the band.

That’s the negotiation I’d like to have. I’ve played where drinks are on the house; but, Bison burgers? Good deal, Rollie.

Actually, my first taste of bison was a large roast at a Voyageur festival which was gifted to us in our TV mobile in the early 70s. We sliced it with a machete. I was hooked. So much so, that I’ve had Bison steaks here and giant ribs in South Dakota. Manitoba has plenty of bison, as does Saskatchewan, but Alberta along with the Northwest Territories has the world’s largest herd in Canada’s largest park Wood Buffalo National Park, estimate to be 10,000, but once it was 168,000 animals.

During the mad cow disease scare some years back, I and the Mrs. swore off ground beef and migrated to bison totally. I even make bison pizza. Only, recently have I returned to beef burgers and such. Ground bison is easy to get in our neighbourhood stores, but when I began eating it the price was (and is) higher than beef. However, it was not well accepted at first because of price and unfamiliarity. Made me happy. More for me at a fair price. Promotion and popularity has, as you said, changed the price to today’s crazy extreme. I now have it less often, but it’s still a regular ingredient in this house. Beefalo is a whole other story.

The Mighty Bison

60 million, so they say
Before the many died away
10 million gives us one in white
The spirit lives inside that sight
Braves will force a cliff side kill
Buffalo man who shoots called Bill
The random slaughter was a waste
To grab a hide and bison taste
Now if you get that bite in hand
Just think of herds across the land
Remember roaming strong and free
A bison with a history.

Very cool poem Gary. And very cool that you are a Bison regular. Perhaps it will become more common stateside, one can only hope.

Thanks, Rollie. I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy it like we do too. As for the meat, aside from the expense and taste, bison is a healthy alternative to beef, and it has similar characteristics - only better. IMHO.

Still, a good steak or a delicious burger will do just fine.

Here at home lamb dogs are also popular.

A little lamb
A big fat hog
They both became
A juicy dog

Every Knight must have his armor
an outer layer of protection
against the harsh realities of battle
and the adverse conditions of war
to protect his life as he protects his land
protect and preserve him for his Amore

I dub thee Sir Rollie. A fitting role for such a noble poet of the land. ‘‘Twas a fine impression you made methinks.

The Astronaut

The astronaut looks down on earth
He sees a big blue ball
That rotates with a mystery
And changes for us all

He wonders how the calm can be
Across the raging sea
The battered shores and inland swells
Spread to flood the land
To part the people’s unity
Like particles of sand

It’s quiet in his loneliness
Out there in outer space
But, looking down on Mother Earth
A smile is on his face

He sees the the good in all mankind
That live with hope below
He does his part to share with us
The peace that we should know

So look up at the stars tonight
Think of him there above
And give him something to behold
A world that’s full of love.

Beautiful poems guys. When I look at the sky tonight, I'll think about the astronauts orbiting this beautiful sphere.

Paris is burning
Lucifer's guts are churning
execution by fire
Christianity sets on that funeral pyre
April 15th has quite the history
here is the link to show the mystery
