Thanks FSB, things are well. And I still need an editor lol.

The night is gettin' older
time is movin' so fast

lookin over my shoulder
in the middle of the night

I get a little nervous
goin home before light

those runnin footsteps I hear
got to think things through

someone comin up quickly
looks alot like you

street lights go past
just not fast enough

faster way up ahead
save some time this way

cut through the gravel yard
leave those bones where they are

just a little further
gotta make it through

this shadow carved out of tombstone
sure looks alot like you

Glad to hear things are on the upswing my friend.

Loved your poem, SBLS. Really good (especially the tombstone connection). Applause.

It reminded me of when I was a kid. There used to be an old Victorian mansion that looked like it came straight out of a Karloff or Price movie. On and off through the many rooms the windows' backlight danced about.

On the large property were many gigantic oak trees all surrounded by a wrought iron fence with a funky main gate. I fully expected to see Christopher Lee come rushing out in his horse and funeral carriage. The whole image was dark and dreary. In fact it was downright eerie in a full moon. On the adjacent sidewalk I would run home as the scarey site was on my route to comfort and safety.

Later I might dream of those branches reaching down to grab me, then toss me into a tree hollow whereupon it would close with me being digested by a mighty oak. I would then wake up.

Ironically, in my teens I found myself visiting that mansion where I was introduced to the children who had earlier inherited the property for it was made to be an orphanage and was so when I first saw it. That explains the light show. :D
So you can't scare me (well, okay maybe a little bit) . . . I and my father met Vincent Price at his art show.
None of the above is fake news.

+1 on your poem, SBLS. Loved it! :) That's some spooky stuff, FSB. How cool it must have been for you and your father to meet Vincent Price! He was a master of spooky!

Yeah, it was cool meeting Mr. Price. A great gentleman who stood in the doorway of his exhibition greeting each and every person with his well known smile. :D
For some reason, while looking at his paintings, you always felt a cold shoulder as if he were measuring you out for a casket.

and so, we wait for a change to appear
and so, this time with hope to be clear
a hope for life and for love so sincere
it can happen with a little luck perhaps
on this home of ours, a celestial sphere

Well, if it's that easy we'll just have to make your day more often.

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day. :D

Glad you enjoyed the story, SBLS.

In light of Hurricane Harvey I give you this:

The Hurricane

Rums, passion fruit, lemon in a glass.

The TV’s on, outside it rains,
The trees they bend, the water drains
Upon the streets where sirens roar,
Where people leave and lock their door.
The boats are tied for quite a ride
On seas that rise to meet the street.

“Another . . . bartender, please”.

Breaking news hits the air
Like choppers in the sky.
Mother Nature shows her wrath.
It makes a grown man cry.

“Again?”, He asks behind the bar.
“Again”, I say. I don’t look far
To see it really pours.

The wind it whirls around,
It leaves without a sound.
Debris and damage everywhere!

The TV flickers, the lights go out,
The water trickles in.
The bar is closed.
We run out to the lane.

I grab my glass with one last gulp
I meet the Hurricane.

Cheers mate. Thoughtfully somber with a glow. That is great. So apropos.
Reminds me of the times at Cheers during a heavy rain waiting to figure out how to get across the des plaines river. 8)

Thanks, Rollie.

At Cheers, huh? Pretty good place to wait out the rain. :D
We get some pretty mean storms here with massive lightning and wind, the odd tornado, lots of rain (including stranded cars), and province wide floods. Thankfully, we don't get pounded by hurricanes, and my heart goes out to our brothers and sisters in the U.S.

Sometimes we don't get the same impact with the press. All things considered, if half the province were under water that would be equal to a couple of states. We even have a floodway to divert the excess water.

That bartender would come in handy on such a night.

Cheers!
