So....
You woke up this morn with a hole in your head;
A bedpan was under your hips
A bouquet of IVs was stuck in each vein
As slobber poured forth from your lips

You haven't a clue how you got in this place;
Of your mind, you've long been bereft,
Your name, once familiar, escapes you just now,
But take heart; we'll work with what's left

You say you were sipping some tea in L.A.,
That's odd, cuz we found you up here
Wand'ring the tundra with nary a coat
But we'll sort it out, don't you fear

You say you remember a jazz band that irked you
And a purse of unusual skin
And an odd little key made of brass, with a stamp
You found lying somewhere within

There there, little lady, you've had a rough day
Don't worry yourself so with that sighing,
That bone chilling feeling you've had all month long
Is just from those drugs we've been trying

So work with us child, we know what we're doing;
We're physicians, of that be assured,
If there's anything left in that gourd on your shoulders
We'll find it, and you will be cured.

Or not.

"Thanks" said she, in a note to me
saying then "for the compliment" to complete the notes content
at notes end she said my name
my nom de plume, my modest claim
other than proud, lest I should fall
one shouldn't trip on arrogance after all
her note, a pleasant surprise, so, what should I say?
in return for the smile given me today
perhaps "You're welcome", is that enough?
or maybe "no problem" to be macho be rough
no, I'll say "You're welcome", that's what it should be
so here it is Dolores, times 3
You are welcome, very, very, very!

Hello fellow writers and scribes of the Fender Forums. This little project which I have thought about for quite awhile isn't as easy as I thought it might be. The Jimi Hendrix Experience recorded a beloved song "Little Wing" in 1967 for their album Axis: Bold as Love. The song's time 2:24 has 2 verses but most of its time is instrumental. A favorite song of mine, it has been covered by many guitarists, my favorite of those covers is Stevie Ray Vaughan's epic version, time 6:49, all instrumental. My thought, to help those guitarists without Stevie's chops, might verses 3 and 4 augment their playing by bringing the song back to earth after long guitar solo's? You will let me know hopefully if this works. If you all approve this will be my tribute, homage to Jimi. If not I'll delete it. What could help is those of you that can play little wing will try these verses to see if they fit for you in meaning and vibe with the song.

verses 3 and 4

As I close my eyes, she appears to me
soothing songs of love, sweetly she sings
fireflies and starry skies and full moon light in lullabies
that's what she always sings about
float on the evening breeze

I'm so glad, when she is here with me
feel her breath, her touch, a magical dream
just tonight, she sighs, for tonight
this dream of love you'll share with me
every dream

float on little wing
yeah yeah yeah yeah, my little wing

My favorite line is:

"fireflies and starry skies and full moon light in lullabies"

Thanks for painting a beautiful picture through your words.

reno2atlanta, thanks for taking time to read it. That line was the toughest to think of. Glad you liked that part. :D

stroker vance, that is funny, might I add

mower won't work, a brokening quirk
couldn't kick the nard 'cause the left one's missin' the right's one's too hard
job's been a layoff, unemployed is no perk
so now I'll shut up or my brain might get barred

Happy Halloween

"AAH ooo" screamed the goblins from under the stairs
"When the night comes we'll creep out and give you a scare".

"Woohoo" howled the werewolves, from the forest they cried
"Under the moon we'll change, right in front of your eyes".

"Ooh ooh" the loud sigh from the witches and ghosts
"On the chill in the air we'll fly close to your home".

Shake shake shake, the skeletons rattle their bones
Clickety clack, their teeth chattering "Terror unknown".

A two-headed monster led the freaks down the hall
Such a horror to frighten us, one and all.

Just stay in your room, don't come out, stay in bed
Keep a flashlight with you, a blanket to cover your head.

With your eyes closed don't look at the nightmarish scene
On this creepiest crawliest hairiest scariest happiest Halloween!

R.I.P. Johnny Winter

Johnny, this farewell song we're singing for you
'cause we miss you so, yes all of you
when you were good or bad, happy or sad
just having you near us, we were glad
we aren't worried now, we know where you are
you're on that big stage in heaven, playing your guitar
playing originals, some choice covers too
and when the crowd wants an encore, you'll play 'em the blues
so please wait for us there, we'll come when we can
then your "And" will regroup for a heavenly jam

post script: the Fender Forum farewell, re-post for another much loved guitarist.

2014, a verse for Buddy Holly and a verse for Stevie Ray Vaughan would be good

try this again
Christmas, add 1 line or 15, variations of lines, stay close to "The Night Before Christmas" poem but different or not so different if it fits, you know. here's my version of a start:

t'was some nights before Christmas
round the Forum, Fenders Lounge
not a byte of info was traveling
not a light blinking
not even a mouse clicking
anywhere in this guitar house

gig bags hanging
by the loading doors there
spirits of Leo and George
watch us with love and care
The IT team were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of terabyte servers danced in their heads

with the Stratocaster in its hard-case
and the Telecaster on its stand
Fender offices lights switched to dimmer
computers moved to hibernate for
an overdue rest on this winters night

When what to my wondering eyes should appear?
The ghost of Jimi Hendrix with a Stratocaster near
He plugged it into an amp and blasted away
Playing Purple Haze for me on Christmas Day

I grabbed a guitar but couldn't begin to keep up
So I tried to blame it on a broken pup
But Jimi just laughed in his nonchalant way
And set fire to his guitar before fading away

Haiku anyone?
I posted this note on Marian Hayes page at the Guild Literary Complex website. Marian is from my home town Chicago and the author of a poem, "The Blues".
I hope that this note is ok. Let me know if it is please brothers and sisters?

Marian,
A haiku poem, including you
little blue tome, something new
with truest tone, like hearty sinew
current thoughts ohm, from color cue

azul earthly dome, my favorite too
to dreamers loam, words are the clew
in the center pome, kindness nourishing dew
and so love shown, yes your nous la doux

my smile grown, disappear le mous
happy today, thanks to you
my crafted om, your skillful coo
on passed hone, for a reflection or two ?

Just a note, only a note,
thankyou,
Roland

PS: Haiku anyone?

Work

Work is the noblest means to an end
care for your loved ones, life's garden to tend
food, shelter and clothing, provide for them all
through the fruits of your labor, they'll stand straight, stand tall
spending time wisely each day as it goes
to help friends and those that need can be choices you chose
with each day that passes you will know this is true
sew seeds that are good and an everlasting light will shine upon you

Listen not to those who would have you waste time
on selfish endeavors in those years of your prime
years pass too quickly, time can not be redone
in the end caring proves that love is better, more satisfying, much more fun
the greater deed is caring for family, loved ones and friends
by your actions and your thoughtful words, success and fulfillment just naturally occurs
being selfish and careless with the times of life is cruel
the flawed character of a know-it-all, the wrong-headed attitude of a fool

You must keep your strength up for the work that you do
good rest and nutrition are requirements too
cherish each moment that you can spend
with your family, your loved ones, your friends
bestow words of encouragement when speaking with them
rejoice in their success, the good things that they do
because when they needed a push in the right direction
that push came from you

Remember the great spirit loves that you love and cares that you care
when you show goodness through your actions
that validates his work on your behalf
so in return with you, his goodness he will share
waste your time not or let it fritter away
use your time wisely, work towards your goals everyday
and if you are a working guitarist
while you work, sometimes, you can play :D

I roll, I stroll, I go around
I'm always up when I should feel down
don't feel gnarly and sad and confused
the solution is simple keep yourself amused
grab your axe play those strings
express yourself from your deep withins
and if when you finish you don't feel better
expect to recieve an asylum letter

I just love this on the spot poetry 8)
