Thank you Rollie, I appreciate the encouragement. I dug this one out tonight. It's dated March '77. Another song I never recorded. I figured out how to play it tonight and I like it. It has a little Rick Nelson vibe to it. Think heavy reverb. Here's the lyrics:

Lonely People

Here I stand in front of you
Took a loss and paid some dues
Look into my eyes, tell me what you see.

Another place, another time
I always thought that you'd be mine
Then you were gone, and it wasn't up to me

My mind slowly drifts, right into the past
How come the greatest things, they never seem to last
Well, I think lonely people, should never really be
Yes, I think lonely people, should never really be

After some time, yeah, in a while
I'm sure I'll find that there's just no child
That should grow up with a love that's make believe

I'll sit and dream about yesterday
As your life goes a different way
Though I thought we were, always meant to be

Now watch me as I slip, into my fantasy
With a cloud around my head, you know, I'm never gonna leave
Cause I think lonely people should never really be
Yes, I think lonely people, should never really be.

Lonely people, should never really be
Lonely people, should never really be
Lonely people, should never really be

Thanks again Rollie. I have a three ring binder that's full of junk like this. Before I take over your thread, I'll relinquish the podium for a while. But sifting through this old stuff is a fun project. Thanks.

their families and loved ones
all around the world, east to west

and then to play this years music with vigor and zest

this sure caught me by surprise

suffice to say the year was one I couldn't recognize
stumbled and bumped the thorough realize
to happily see the new sun rise
a happy new year early, to all.

I thought of a question a moment ago
as I thought about you
my favorite thought don't you know.
It will be written in the form of a rhyme
not too long and not too short
but long enough to use just a moment of precious time
Answer if you like
I've included mine:

What is the best thing that you've ever done
in the last minute or two, just for fun
well, for my best thing
that is the best thing that I've ever done
in the last minute or two, just for fun
I thought of you
that's the thing the best that I've ever done
in the last minute or two, just for fun
because, of all the wonderful things about you
if I had to choose just one
which one of them I thought about
in the last minute or two just for fun
fun would be the one
my favorite thought, favorite one
in the last minute or two just for fun

you are inspirational orvilleowner.

Being human is...
a designation that can take time to convey
with all of the points of view to describe
it could take all day
is it innate or instinctive
just in the DNA
from up in the cerebral cortex
or only deep in the lizard brain
is it all philosophical
or scientifically psychological
might be it is physiologically anatomical
physical structure leading the way
for all of those students studying disciplines
all of those professors teaching away
Being human is... changes ever so slightly
day to day, with all of those facts in the way
taking time to convey
what is it today?
Being human is a destination
the place people are going every day of life
people want to reach there, so
they keep going in that direction
sometimes they look at each other
and see their own reflections
remembering a simple form of communication
an eye to eye wave of connection
while going in the human direction
to reach their destination
to achieve the designation

Well it took a little while but here it is. A comprehensive list of The Fender Lounge Forum's best and brightest poets, from my point of view lol. Every member who has posted on this thread was/is an inspiration. Some of them posted one poem or song, some words to bump the thread along and then vanished, wishing they would post again. I have friend'd every one. There are some prolific writers, Danny Duke and rileymcc who's poetry I miss. Fenderseeker09 is missed too. Every one is.

In the moonlit memory called the good old days
Snapshots flicker in a ticker-tape haze
Growing up, becoming that which you will be
Each moment only helping you see
That life is about more than money or fame
It is, in fact,like a nine-inning game
Sometimes you're the starting pitcher, the ace
Sometimes you're the closer just trying to wrap up the race
In each battle and in each test
You learn you can play among the best
Those memories from the past aren't photos at all
They're the foundation that make one stand tall
Look in the mirror the next time for real
That man or woman is the result of that great pottery wheel
Time pushes us on but it shapes us as well
From each event, some new story to tell
A photo is worth a thousand words they say
What picture will you paint today?

spring training starts next month, White Sox, Cubs, hoping lol.
