Sorry guys, but I think the Jonas Brothers guitar is the first one to make sense in a while. Like I said in another thread, I don't think of these as true signature guitars because they aren't a mainstay in lineup like say a Clapton, Guy, Beck, or Gilmour strat. These things are around only briefly. But the JB Melody Maker is pretty smart in my opinion because it introduces Gibson to a segment of the guitar-playing population that probably can't afford a Les Paul - the teenie boppers. The Melody Maker is much more affordable. While they probably can't afford the JB model either, they do see them as having a model and maybe deciding to pick up a plain Jane Melody Maker as a result instead of getting an Ibanez or Schecter or even a Squier. Think about how many sales of Gretsch and Ric there were simply because of The Beatles. While these guys are no Beatles, they do have a fan base  that loves them. Hell, at $489 on MF, the Melody Maker is cheaper than some of the Epis. I wouldn't have even paid any attention to it had it not been for this thread.

Conversely, is it true that the Brit beat groups avoided Stratocasters because they didn't want to look like the Shadows?

The guitar looks beautiful, but I can't stand the whining voices of the Jonas Brothers...

That one may play good but I'd want to be sure and purchase a case with it so I didn't have to look at when I wasn't playing it. Or possibly get some really dark shades or 3-D glasses to wear when it was out of the case.

[quote="63supro"]The original Melody Makers with the P90's are actually really sweet.

Ditto! First one I ever played was in the arsenal of my brother-in-law. Vintage...single pickup, no cover, the winding showing, guitar looked like a junk yard dog. He had an original TS-9 and a Blackface Bassman which he'd run that guitar through. That little guitar could blow the windows out. 8)

If it didn't have all that JB stuff on it, it could be a really good guitar. Not much of a JB fan, so I'd have to pass on this guitar.

Wow-A Jonas Bros. Melody Maker and autographed by them too. They're so dreamy and groovy.I wonder if I sold my John Lennon '65 Epiphone and my Strat and Tele autographed by Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives if I'd be able to get one. When are they going to come out with a Justa Beaver model? He's such a great guitar player too.

"Done with Fender",... because of that guitar...? Oh, I get it, jocularity, R-R-R-R! Like the Eagles said; "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

God I hate the jonas brothers. Just stupid posers that will be forgotton in a year or so. Funny enough this alienated me from Gibson more than the Firebird X did! That thing was stupid, but this just shows how much they are selling out. When i saw those guitars i threw my SG on the bed, and went and kissed my Gretsch.

I think that there is like, a story in the Bible about those guys, and they were like all swallowed by a whale or something. But, they didn't taste very good, so the whale like spit them out and junk. :o

Thats already underway. A double neck flying V, called a flying M.

Only available in gold, the fretboard is oiled with burger grease and the plectrums are green gherkins.
