Interesting question and had to really think about it. 11 years split in two "lifetimes". Played in a band in high school and folk group in college and then met my EX-wife who hated music. I stopped for almost 40 years.
Started back about 4 years ago and am in awe of all the wonderful electronic stuff out there now to help you learn and practice. Man have I got toys!
Making music and playing guitar certainly keeps to joy light burning!

Sorry but who the hell hates music???

My ex-wife hated the Beatles. Does that count? That would make two.

Hate is a big word though, unlike "not being a fan". There must be some music out there for everyone.

44 years. I still have my first acoustic, a plywood job that made your fingers bleed and my first electric, my 63 Supro Martinique.

Wow! When I said I was sure there'd be a few people here that have been playing longer than I've been alive I didn't realize just how many of you guys there'd be. It's awesome to hear about people sticking to it that long, or being away from it for a long time and coming back. Good Stuff.

There's actually a lot of talent here. We just don't wank away as a headless torso on Youtube. We do that in the privacy of our own homes LOL.

First started playing when I was about 12. Got my first guitar when I was 13. Played in bands all through high school but kinda went on hiatus when I went to university. That hiatus lasted almost forty years! Just turned 61 last month. Started playin' again about a year and a half ago. LOVIN" IT!!!!!

45 years more or less, I never thought I would still be at it after all these years. Since my kids are grown and gone I play more than ever, I think that makes my wife happy since I'm not pestering her food and all the esentials of life 8)

Hey Tim! I'm considerably older than you (46), but I'm a relative newcomer to the guitar. It will three years in January, and I'm having a blast! 8)

Since spring of 1989...21+ years.

First guitar--Fender F250 acoustic...sounds/plays better than it's reputation. Actually, it just sounds good, period.
First electric--1980 G&L F100...awesome axe!

I still have them both!
