I've been playing for about 4 years now. When I was a teenager and in my early 20's, I owned a 80's Japanes Squier, but I didn't do anything with it. I would occassionally pick it up and do the one string Smoke on the Water or Iron Man. I was either too lazy or too busy to actually learn how to play. A few years ago, I just finally picked it up and said "I'll learn how to play and actually get good at playing or die trying." My funeral is next week. Send flowers....or money....yeah send money.

I've been playing 20 years. Seriously the first 10 and then had to put it down a bit when I moved to NYC and was starving and broke trying to focus on career building and paying rent. Now a couple of fellers at work and I have a little writing and recording project going for fun so i've been getting back into it. Hoping more to inspire my kids to take up guitar so i can set up that music room when the money starts flowing in like leaves on an autumn breeze.

Interesting question and had to really think about it. 11 years split in two "lifetimes". Played in a band in high school and folk group in college and then met my EX-wife who hated music. I stopped for almost 40 years.
Started back about 4 years ago and am in awe of all the wonderful electronic stuff out there now to help you learn and practice. Man have I got toys!
Making music and playing guitar certainly keeps to joy light burning!

Just over 2 years. Don't play like Clapton or Gilmour yet but I'm stickin with it.

My grandson, just under two, always heads for my guitars whenever he is over. So when he is ready I should be able to show him a few things and he'll get an earlier start than me.

45 years sorta, kinda. Started folk with Peter, Paul and Mary. (You'd think I'd be way better by now!)

I have been playing for 24 years total. I did have a 15 year break where I hardly played at all. I picked it up again about 6 years ago and just been having fun ever since.
