Yesterday my wife returned from her 10 day visit with our daughters in Labrador and when she came into the living room the monster 4-12 Vox cabinet was there to greet her as my buddy who was supposed to help me bring it downstairs never showed Sunday evening. She didn't go ballistic however as I had expected her to-I guess she really must have missed me-or maybe it was the aroma of a gourmet meal of Chinese food that I had prepared that tamed her down.Anyway I guess I'll have to put the cab back downstairs and I'm hoping on starting my music room-rec room switch as soon as I can sell the treadmill and chesterfield that are there just taking up space.I'll have to take some before and after pix.

You're lucky dude. When my wife came back after a weekend away she hit the roof just because my Blues Junior had migrated to the living room! Sheesh!

If you get rid of the treadmill what are you going to hang clothes on?

A nice music room with privacy and soundproofing is a great idea!
Would love to make one myself.

My girlfriend and I are looking at getting a place together, and she actually brought up the idea of hanging my guitars in the living room

I would hide my wife away in a seperate room of the house before my amps got quarantined. I have an amp and a guitar in every room but the kitchen and the bathroom, and they'll be staying right where they are. I was a musician long before I met her, and she seems to understand my way of thinking. Plus she knows that on this one subject saying something to me about it would make no difference. Otherwise I always value her input, but I'm not gonna go hide in another room to play my music.

Not a wise idea, John.

Keep them secured so you can control who sees them.

That's just how I roll...lol. Seriously though, my wife is cool and doesn't mind my music, so I guess I got lucky. I'd go crazy trying to be with someone that had an issue with it cause I pretty much always have a guitar in my hands when I'm at home.

Be very suspicious, she's up to something.

Man...sometimes my EX-wife used to see me sitting there holding a guitar and would say,"I wish you held me like you hold that guitar" to which I would reply,"she treats me better than you do".
I still have my guitars.

Hee-hee! I remember when I was a kid I had a busted moment when my mother got home unexpectedly to find my (rather large) drumkit and a bunch of amplifiers, guitars... and associated players in our fairly small living room.

Ah, happy days!

Luckily for my wife, she doesn't have a problem with my guitars. Loves them actually.......although I'm sure she gets upset sometimes because I spend a lot of time playing, but she was the one that created a corner in the bedroom dedicated to my music and guitars.

And as far as where I play while she's gone......that's not a problem. My wife knows that if I'm at home alone, the volume gets cranked up and I play till my fingers bleed.

I wonder if she would mind changing bedrooms when the kids move out? I'd love to make our 525 sq/ft bedroom into one giant music room. hmmm. I wonder if that would be taking it too far?
