Why would i stop the current wrist exercise's I'm doing? My physiotherapist said to do them, but she also said I can find some more.

We sure didn't have helpful woman physios like that when I was 15...

I guess he is luckier than most of us. Some of you older guys had to steal our dads crumpy and crusty (EWWWW) old magazines to help with the imagination, Riley simply has to turn on a computer

And if I took this too far I have only one thing to say: I'm sorry Brad

 , yes CC i get it, laugh all you want but the jokes on you guys for thinking that way

but seriously, i need to exersice as much as i can now before the medication wears off

You know that's is not going to happen, he is a teenager after all
Yeah but he might go blind.

See how it affected us?

Hi Tochai: speaking for myself, old. Very, very old. So-o-o-o-o-o old.

***

BTW, we've all had a bit of fun here. But young Mr Riley/radio-friendly-etc has a real and serious medical situation. I kind of doubt there's useful solutions to that to be found on a guitar forum and in any case he has good doctors and physios working with him on it.

But he may wish to tell us a bit more about it, to educate us a little and also make us all feel bad for joking about it.

Riley...?

Cheers - C

Hi there, Radio! I'm sorry for the light banter, but it's like mentioning nuts, somehow there's a bug in my browser that won't let me stay earnest! ;-)

BUT unlike some, I have some possible advice. Check out these two tips from Mr Billy Penn over at 300guitars.com:

http://www.300guitars.com/300s-tips/war ... exercises/
(quick vid on what you can do, also refers to wrist action... 8))

http://www.300guitars.com/300s-tips/300 ... d-fatigue/
(explanatory text with some cool tips)

Now generally I would say start learning to work with your lower arm when playing rather than using the possibilities of the wrist. And even though I know there will be some guys smirking while reading this it is important that you remind yourself to move the hand at the elbow, not at the wrist. Danger is you might get a cramp in the upper or lower arm, but with plenty of practice this technique is much more easy on your tendons, too.

One last cheesy remark: If you don't use it, you lose it. So practice regularly, but not excessively. If you notice your hand seizes up, sit on a chair and let your arm dangle for a few minutes, and just move your fingers once in a while.

Anyhow, hope to have helped; as with ANY activity, don't overdo it!! 8) :P

Yep, I smirked all the way through that. Almost every word was smirkable.

And just when I was trying to make a noble effort to turn the thread to a more respectful tone.

Mind you, Tochai is right. We really are a bunch of big kids, aren't we? I'm properly embarrassed.

C'mon radio/riley: tell us about your medical situation and make us all feel rightfully ashamed of ourselves...

ceri, i dont know how many times i've said this on here, but this is the last time..

i had a stroke in 2005 and that affected my right side, and gave me some sort of muscular disorder on both my right limbs. i cant manipulate, yet alone open my fingers with ease.
so i was just asking for help, and yes i do see whats funny, but it wasn't supposed to be taken in that way

Hi RFUS: yep, I know about it. But you've got to remember there might be people reading this thread who don't. So it's good for everyone to hear about the serious side of your question.

Which, let's face it, is pretty serious.

Best of luck with it - C
