Always keep your options open bro but my no means don't give up on guitar!
If you're out for a new bass I recommend the Aerodyne Jazz Bass from Fender. I've been messing around on one again as of late and it's great. A looker too!

Best of luck mate.

I have also always wanted a fretless instrument. That might be an option too. I even thought about building a fretless guitar. :?

That would be cool mate. I love fretless bass. You may as well give it a go. I've been thinking about building my own amp since The Ninja sent be a link last month. Never tried anything like that before but you gotta start somewhere.

The Aerodyne is nice though. Try it if you can!

i played bass from the ages of 12-16 or 17 then swaped to guitar (had been messing with guitar for a few years , then took the plunge) and every now and then i get the urge to play 4 strings :) lucky for me my daughter has 3 just now so borrowing one isn't a problem , nothing better than playing some cream classics or some good footstomping stranglers tunes , enjoy mate :D

If you are not kidding about the instrument change, may I suggest an accordion. You can cover a lot of music styles with it.

Or get the one with buttons for more challenge

I have thought about playing bass on a few occasions. I bought a Squier P Bass a few years ago to lay down the bottom end on a few recordings. I see people all the time looking for bass players and thought I should give it a go in a band just to see what happens. The only problem is I don't own a bass amp and I'm pretty sure my wife won't let me buy one!

You shouldn't worry what your wife says, you should rule your house like I do...

Just last week there was no hot water, and man, I raised the roof! As the man of the house, I demand hot water! There was no peace in my house...cuz I hate washing dishes in cold water.
