Hi Donmac,I certainly remember The Ducats,Lew Skinner ,the lead guitarist is one of my closest buddies and we have jammed together many times,as a matter of fact I bought my '65 Strat-and many other guitars and amps from Lew.They recently had their 50th Ann. concert-which I attended and even though 3 of the original members have gone on to the great jam in the sky they're still going strong and the current keyboard player JR. Reid is the owner of Reid music where I've been buying my gear for the past 20 years.Lew is a real good buddy of Scotty Moore (Elvis' gutar player)and Scotty got Gibson to make Lew a Lefty model of his famous one off Gibson-which Lew still has.

Re The Collectors-that was the name Chilliwack used before they became Chilliwack.I remember seeing them around '66-'67 on a CBC program out of Vancouver as the Collectors.

Yah, they were truly amazing. They had two incredible albums, and not many people know it, but they were the band who played nearly all the instruments and did the backup vocals on the Electric Prunes critically acclaimed album "Mass in F Minor". Their lead singer Howie Vickers left the group before they became Chilliwack and sang for Wildroot.

My favourite Collectors song was actually a "B" side to their hit Lydia Purple, it was called Fisherwoman.

Another great band from that list was Mother Tuckers Yellow Duck, whose hit "One Ring Jane" still sounds great after all these years. Amazing lead guitar work by the late Roger Law (who used to come down to Medicine Man Charlies and jam with Wildroot). We miss ya' Roger!

I forgot to mention Bryan Adams. He just writes great tunes and I really like Keith Scott's playing.

I'm surprised that of all of us Canucks nobody thought of our own Tom Cochrane and Red Ryder who did such great songs as White Hot and the absolutely fabulous rocker Lunatic Fringe.I also forgot Hamilton's own Tomi Swyck another massive talent who opened for Bare Naked Ladies on their 2007 cross Canada tour.

Re Max Webster:A good buddy of mine who I'll only identify by his nickname "Dog" was a roadie for Max Webster around the time that they recorded their first album. He and Max Webster's lyricist Pi DuBois were room mates and he told me that the beautiful song Lily was about a girl that Pi was deeply in love with but who had sadly commited suicide or was murdered I can't rightly remember which.

I can't believe no one has metioned Sam Roberts yet. He's making some of the best Canadian rock today and in the last few years.

I'll rephrase my original statement.

No Anne Murray, Celine Dion or Justin Bieber!
I forgot about Justin Bieber anyway! Thats right he is Canadian! Too Bad.

I think you forgot nickelback too.

Nickelback is an old Canadian folk word for ear's bleeding from disgust.
