Update: I have been informed by the dealer that my Fender American Deluxe 5 string won't be in until January. My previous post indicated that I wouldn't order another bass from Fender. Well, that statement isn't true. I ordered a fretted Steve Bailey. I guess good things come to those who wait. Maybe I can avoid a possible price hike in 2011.

This issue has really worked its way around the Forums. Several of us are awaiting '57VHR's. My journey began in April with Guitar Center who's system just couldn't handle the prolonged back order and kept cancelling me. So I gave it to the Music Zoo and am waiting patiently. Someone actually suggested that I should have had it Teambuild Custom by the Custom Shop as long as I was waiting, but the original deal was too good to pass up. So tread water I will. We shall see.
