In the "Ask Mike Eldred" forum, he stated :

"Last January we took more orders than we ever have. If definitely was a surprise to us and our production capabilities. Adjustments have been made, and we are doing very well right now."

I would expect that would have to mean the American Standard Series guitars, because the "Standards' are MIM. The Music Zoo was told, maybe December for my '57 Vintage HR.

My Amer Deluxe was supposed to be here about the middle of Nov. I found out yesterday that now it is supposed to be late December or early January. So I don't know where your guy gets they are doing very well unless he means business is booming not how fast they are getting them out. But, I don't want a rush on it for less quality. So that time will have to do.

I want mine made with love as well but I also want it. Seeing I ordered in April I think that is not unreasonable. Its a bolt on neck guitar not a nuclear reactor.

My gripe, more than the delay, is the shifting dates. I can understand the reasons for the delays. If you are having vendor problems, resources problems, etc. that is fine. Just tell me. Don't give me dates you know you can't meet and then slip them out every two months.

I have had six different (slipping) dates from Fender on this guitar. Fender can't seem to hit a planned date within 10 months which is ridiculous. The fact that they shift the date out every two months leads me to believe that they never intended to deliver my guitar at any of the previous dates. I also don't belive the current date. They have been wrong 6 times so far. Why be right now?

One more slip and this guitar is cancelled. I will never order anything from Fender again. Ever!

Please note this is not a reflection on the quality of their guitars. I like them a lot and will probably buy more in the future. Its a gripe with their product tracking process. Either they can't estimate deliveries within a year (which is ludicrous and a sign of some pretty bad supply chain management) or they are not honest about when they can deliver and are counting on people putting up with a years worth of 2 month delays over an honest year long wait.

I've been griping on a couple of forums about the changing delivery dates a few times. So this will be my last public complaint. While the longer wait than initially told is kind of ticking me off, I adjusted to that, what bugs me is every two months kicking out it out another two months. That kind of smells like a rat. At the time I bought it if they had told me 4-6 months I probably would have went with the "other" Fender. But after the first delay I would've just sucked it up and waited like I am now. So. I've been waiting for 30 years to buy a top of the line (or near to the top) and another 60 days won't kill me. I couldn't find the one I wanted in a store that is why I ordered it. The next one will be taken home the day I pay for it as I won't be so finicky on the color. Hope we all get ours earlier that they just told us! Will be a good Xmas if it does! Now, for me, no more griping.

In May, I traded-in a bass towards a Fender American Deluxe 5string Jazz bass with maple fingerboard and ash body. I was told it would arrive in September, and then I was told it would arrive in November. Yesterday, I was told it would arrive in December! I'm not going to order another bass from Fender!
