Seems as though Cyndi Lauper has a new album out called Memphis Blues. I have sample the tracks on Amazon and she don't sound half bad. I am surprised that Ms. Lauper went out on a limb like this...never did I know that she would or could sing the blues. Any thought or opinions out there in Fenderland???

I have that CD. Some good stuff here, she reminds me a bit of Maria Muldaur on these songs. Cyndi does a good job singing the blues. The band ain't too shabby, either.
And with guests like B.B. King, Alain Toussaint, Ann Peebles, and Johnny Lang, how could you go wrong?
An enjoyable album.

They played a couple of cuts from it on Sirius the other night and I must say I was favourably impressed.I had never taken her seriously in the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun days but I do now.

Well, you see, that's just it, I wasn't all that surprised at her capablity as a blues singer. I'v always thought her an excellent singer, even though I didn't really care for her style of music. Still, it was a pleasant surprise at her choice to do a blues album, and I am glad it turned out so well. I hope she does another.

She is a very talented performer with incredible range...The record is worth a listen mainly because of jonny lang. This guy is incredible.

I've heard a few clips from this now and it sounds good. I didn't really expect her to sound this bluesy and the music is top shelf!
