First off, I like how you do xmas, all I ever get each year is socks and gift cards, most to places I don't normally go to. Anyways, the reason for the delay from what I heard is they had to switch paint suppliers as well as go through layoffs. Paint supplier is the main reason because they had to halt production to test and make sure the new paint was 100% identical to the old paint finishes. Production has started moving again, as I see several members of this forum have gotten their Am. Deluxes in after waiting for quite a while (some longer than 6 months <_<). Usually guitars are done in batches in terms of their finish, i.e. they'll do a bunch of 3 tone bursts and then do a bunch of butterscotches etc...so hopefully your order will be completed on schedule and you'll be having xmas by February and not July ^^

Sounds to me like you should have bought a guitar off the wall at a store. Pay for it and it's in your hands now. It's not too late to cancel the order and go buy one from a "brick and mortar" storefront.

Do you have a sister?

Just kidding. haha. I have a great gal.

If you're really worried about it both of those guitars should be available for shipping at one of the big box places like Musicians Friend. Or, even better, you can look for independent Fender dealers in your area and give them a call and see if they have these in stock.

Edited:

Oh wait. I didn't realize they were lefties. Dang. That does make them harder to come by.

I've had a lefty American Strat on order since March of this year. My dealer is telling me that Fender hasn't shipped any American stock since January NAMM. I'm still waiting too...

I'd like to say, first off, your boyfriend is a very lucky man.

But if it helps, I heard when Fender increased their prices 30%, it was because they shut down for a while. That's just what a store clerk told me, I'm not entirely sure if it's true or not, I really can't say. Could it be their running through business problems? :?
