I'd have to say that signature guitars have officially jumped the shark. Just saw on Facebook that the Jonas Brothers have a signature guitar.

I offically want to crap!

First Chad Kroeger, Keifer Sullivan, and now Jonas Brothers!

Firebird X?

WOW! Gibson is a turd among turds, i am almost skeptical to buy one now because i really have no faith in the brand.

They have become cartoony like daisy rock.....just saying.

Yeah, but ... we are only talking about a very small limited run here (300 guitars only) that are geared likely more to their fans than musicians with the autographs. The way I see it Gibson is in business to make money, so what is so wrong with them cashing in a bit? The guitar itself is no embaressment with its mahogany body and the P-90s. However ... if you are one of those "signature models should only be considered for lifetime guitar achievement" types, don't even bother replying ... as we will never find a middle ground. I, personally, think it is no big deal ...

They're about two or three years too late. Now it's Bieber-mania.

Take away the signatures and the goofy crest, I might actually be interested in that guitar. Mahogany + P90s=Heck Yeah!

When I think of a signature model guitar, however, I think of someone outstanding in their field (not "standing out in a field", like a cow).

I love Billy Gibbons, and I was glad to see he has two different guitars--the Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird Billy-Bo Cadillac Buick Frito-Lay model as well as a Pearly Gates Les Paul (it took them long enough to get one of those!)...

I like John Mayer ok, but how does he deserve more signature models than Buddy Guy or Robert Cray? If Mayer deserves an entire line of signature model Strats, why doesn't Tab Benoit have a single Telecaster Deluxe in his name?

If Sting has his own Precision Bass model, why doesn't Dusty Hill--he's used a 50s style Precision bass or a Telecaster bass throughout his entire career (John Bolin custom jobs notwithstanding)...

I can't stand Yngwie, but I guess he does deserve his own Strat for figuring out how to take every bit of soul out of music. :P

Don't like Billy Corgan, but at least he has skins on the wall older than five years (unlike the Jonases).

I have little use for Iron Maiden, but I guess Dave Murray deserves a Strat for his contributions.

Jim Root? Keifer Sutherland? Avril Lavigne? Give me a break!

...so whether I like someone or not, they may or may not be deserving of their own signature model; I just don't think these Disney-manufactured dudes have contributed enough.

...OH, WAIT--THIS IS ABOUT MONEY ISN'T IT? Silly Me! I'm taking artistic endeavor much too seriously.

Oh well, at least they play their own instruments, unlike so many other teenage-bubblegum-pop artists.

It's funny if you go to the link for this axe (in the original post), most of the Gibson forum members are VIOLENTLY trashing this guitar and the Fireturd X!

When is Gibson gonna get a clue?

Make quality instruments with the features REAL musicians want, and the world will beat a path to your door...they seem to be reverting back to the old Baldwin days (sheesh!).

They need their own Bill Schultz, like Fender needed back in the early 80s--a guy who was willing to go through some tough struggles in order to get back to the glory of the earlier years of Fender.
