Niki, that's brilliant! Consider yourself..."quoted". :)

Yeah you can count me in as well. As far as my music goes I'm definately living in the past. And any new artists I seem to like tend to sound like old artists.

yep, me too. i never listen to music on the radio anymore. i listen to political talk radio all day. as far as new music, i tend to like country and christian rock. when i want to rock out i get the old 80's metal out and re-live my younger days.

I'm getting up there and I like Lady Gaga. However, I agree that there are a
lot of crap bands out there. Most of this rapping trash all sounds the same.
It's totally uninspired. It can't get through a verse without a vulgarity. And
it just seems to be a bragging contest by a bunch of bands who all use the
same old tired gimmicks.

Don't feel bad bro. You're right, many of the "artists" you mentioned are homogenized crap specifically designed to appeal to fickle musical taste of "the teenaged masses". Pop music has always been, and will always be disposable junk. Some of it is FUN disposable junk, but junk none the less. I despised it in my teens, I despised it in my twenties, I despised it in my thirties, and guess what . . . I still despised it in my late 40's. Take what is good, original, and meaningful from new music and disregard the rubbish. Just don't think that you are somehow "wrong" for having a bit of musical integrity.

We're waiting on an artist to come along and change things, and as much as he would like to believe it, it isn't Justin Bieber.
I'm beginning to think I may have to do it myself.

I dont see that happening. People are not open enough to real music. They just like gimmicky pop.

To me, there are already artists out there changing things. Its just not being noticed.

A friend of mine has a sticker on his guitar case:

I'M NOT GETTING OLD, YOUR MUSIC REALLY DOES SUCK!

Amen, Brother!

Thats a bit of a defeatist attitude don't you think?
People weren't open to much other than country when Buddy Holly came along.
