Sorry, I thought blaze was asking an honest question:

"What do you guys think of him?"

Not: "How much do you worship him?"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a forum for honest discussions of equipment and artists? Or are we supposed to just make positive stuff up?

I'm not surprised: distasteful comments from my perspective. We'll leave this one to Brad.

Er, it wasn't your comments about Mayer per se, but the undertone of racism in some of your comments. Please re-read what you posted and also our posts in response - which quoted what we consider to be the "offending" passages!!

(Edited for spelling)

I don't think racism is an honest form of discussion any way you play it.

I don't think it was so much your opinion of John Mayer I think it was the "He sets new standards for white guys desperately trying to sound Black or at least hip with all the fake emotion from the glottal area and the phony pronounciations of words to sound dumb and uneducated and Southern. I mean, all white rock guys do that to some extent"

That got us a little excited.

I dig JM's tone. He gets some nice sounds out of his Strat. From the songs I've heard he's usually pretty tasteful in his guitar playing. As a bass player, I wouldn't mind holding down the low end for him. Which unfortunately, isn't something I can say for alot of guitar players that I've heard or worked with lately. I wouldn't bag on his voice, it's not the greatest, but it's by no stretch bad. He's a very relatable guy it seems to alot of people. Just a guy trying to put out good music, there should be more of them with contracts instead of most of the crap that's on the radio now days.

It's true he has not got the strongest of voices, but I find it is well-matched to his music and lyrics.

But you are absolutely right about your "contracts" point. We need another age of the troubador.
