I know it's kind of last minute, but I'm looking for a rotary speaker emulator pedal for a big gig I have coming up on the 20th. I like the Boss RT-20, and since I'm an employee at a guitar store which sells Boss products I could get it at a discount.

But what other rotary speaker pedals are there? If one looks good enough I may just wait and save up the extra money for it. I'm a huge fan of the rotary speaker sound, but there's no way I can afford a real one right now. So pedals are my best option.

I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions y'all might have. :D

You'd pay more for the BOSS than you would a leslie.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LESLIE-125-SPEAKER-HAMMOND-VALVE-6L6-KT66-AMPLIFIER-/220692603976?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Keyboard_RL&hash=item33624de448

Notice it says pickup only. Price was/is never a problem with the things transport was/is. Their massive.

Still if you're hopping over the water to get that one, then we'll have Ceri show you the sites.

In all seriousness the Boss unit is good. The dejavibe better, the Univibe best of all if you can find a old one that still works.

I use an old A/DA flanger (first-generation AC-powered, with the original Panasonic bucket-brigade chips) to simulate a Leslie. It's probably not as good as the old Roto-Vibe or the new Boss RT20 but it's convincing enough for my purposes.

What does that thing sound like? How would you use it, in place of or on with your regular amp?

Yeah thats a good point Retro.

For the amount you'll use the effect, it's not really worth shelling out mucho dollah on a pedal.

It can get to be too much quite quickly.

Cheers Mike, not heard of them checking em now

Sounds good to me. So its a modulation effect. In the class with chorus or tremolo, phaser ect.

I have an old Leslie Model 16 Cabinet but since it's too heavy to lug around I use my Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe pedal that for about $60 does a pretty good impression of that Leslie/Univibe sound. You could also check out their Chorus pedal which can also give you a similar effect for about the same price and with their heavy cast metal cases they're almost bullet proof.BTW the new 100Watt Suzuki/Hammond Leslie amp/speaker is about $1400 and the cab without the amp is about $1000.

The RT20 is a sweet pedal. I get to use one of my buddies from time to time. Plus you get the light show. 8)

The Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe 2 MDV2 is seriously cool too.

The other day at a local jam a buddy of mine who's into SRV was playing through an Ibanez Rotary Chorus and it sounded very Stevie Ray-ish! Found one on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-Rotary-Chorus-Effect-Pedal-Made-Japan-/220691889689?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item336242fe19#ht_500wt_1156

Was thinking of getting one myself but I wouldn't even know what to do with it :?
