Today must be eric clapton day or something...lol.
Nice guitar, but will probably cost way more than a true vintage Les Paul and I'm not sure the extra pennies are worth it for a guitar just because somebody else has put their name behind it. Will be nice and eventually collectible I'm sure, but I'll stick to regular production guitars myself.

What is that company's business plan?

For every disaster guitar, they release another overpriced les paul that has little relation to the iconic owner?

Ah ok Henry, the SG smashing thunderpants X didn't get a warm reception, we'd better release a Ravelle edition LP?

Good name for that guitar as it does not give me GAS.

I think you may be onto something there nevin...I remember the days when you could get a top of the line Gibson for $2,500. All of a sudden everything they sell that's got gold hardware or a figured maple top is $5000+
Fortunately a high end Fender; though still pricey, is much less coin.
Not knocking Gibson, but I don't expect to be buying any new gibbys anytime soon.

I'd never buy a new Gibson off the rack....don't know what you're getting. The RI's, although great guitars, are way over priced. I buy MIJ guitars...1 Orville Custom, 1 Edwards LP Special and my prize is an Orville By Gibson 57 RI....can't go wrong if you know what you're doing.

Next on the list is a Strat and a Tele :) hmmmmm I suddenly have the urge to visit Guitslinger for a cup of tea :)

I have been VERY happy with my Gibson historic, but they still do not GET IT. People want vintage accuracy. On one hand, you can't copy vintage instruments to complete perfection since it may cause trouble determining which is real, which is the repro, but you can do better.

If you "reproduce" a guitar, it should be just that, a reproduction. An accurate one to boot.

I don't want people bashing Gibson for the overpriced guitars because frankly they still make cheap stuff. These are not meant for 8 year old kids to play as first guitars. These are comparable to Fender masterbuilt tributes (the SRV "1 etc)

But the difference is that Fender goes all out crazy accurate and Gibson just kind of wings it.

All I can say is I like my 06 '56 Goldtop R6 w/P90s.
It may not be the absolute best Gibson in the world but it's probably the best I'll ever own.

All I'm saying is that they are not making quality LP's like they used to. If I want a new solid body les paul then it has to be a RI.
