No, only because I am new to bass playing and I wanted an affordable amp that could be played in an apartment without starting a fight with the neighbours. My main goal is to practice and learn to play bass guitar properly. But if I can reach a good level as a bass player, then I might consider playing with something more interesting.

Power, speakers, strings are what I focus on, Mesa M6 and M9s feature tube pre-amps. I use Fender bass guitars, so I get the sound as long as I have enough power, and, large enough speakers to push air.

My brother is the "family bassist" and he likes both tube and transistor platforms.

For vintage Jack Bruce / Felix Pappalardi / Noel Redding grind he uses his Sunn Model T (not the anemic re-issue) through a pair of Sunn 200S cabs stuffed with JBL K140's. When he needs "The Ox" he reaches for his Sunn Coliseum + a Coliseum slave (640 watts total) and adds a third 200S enclosure. If he's feeling particularly ornery he plays a pair of Acoustic 370's. The Sunn Concert Bass with a pair of SWR Warriors is his "training rig".

He likes to "make the rubble bounce".

I had both an old Sunn and ancient Kustom tube amps back in time playing bass. But these days I love my Line 6 Lowdown 300 combo. It's reliable, easy to transport, has some built in chorus/delay/effects that are useful.

I'm not seeking anything regarding amps.

Its the same basic principle with as it is with guitars, though its not quite as important.

That's quite an impressive lot of bass amps your brother has Arjay,it certainly would my old '68 Bassman with the 2-15 cabinet out of the water, but the old Bassman sounds great with my old Vox Astro IV violin bass.

Yeah, Bill's a personal friend of my brother. I think they used to go to the same gym in San Jose.
