I've never tried the pso4. I have used a lot of zoom gear over the years, it doesn't last unless you're really gentle with it.
Currently I use the H2 for recording and thats it. One thing about Zoom, they have the easiest user interface of all these digital specialists.

Well one thing Zoom are really good for is their user interface as I said. If you're not into the recording side of things, want to get into it and want to learn as you go. Zoom will fit the bill nicely. You may however grow out of it, it may last you forever.
My H2 suits me down to the ground. I don't want to layer a million tracks, I don't even want a drum track. I definitely don't want to be mucking about with microphones, computer interfaces and all that stuff. I just want to plonk a plastic box infront of my amp, hit a button and record.

Zoom have always offered decent to good audio quality and a easy way to set that up. It's how they made their name years back (1990). ART and Digitech were also making multieffects Zoom claimed the market by being the easiest to use.

If the PS04 works properly, has no faults. You'll get a decent recording device for not a lot of moolah. Whether it's fast enough to accurately record to pc whilst playingback too, I dunno.

Here's some interesting reading on the company.

I have used the Boss, or more accurately played whilst someone else twiddled the knobs of the Boss.

It's about the only other one I'd go for not knowing a thing about recording. You always get good soundquality and simplicity with Boss. The stuff is rugged too.

I'd pick the Boss of those two.
