Hey guys, I'm looking for a new overdrive pedal to give me that good cranked amp sound at a lot lower volume. Do you have any suggestions? I've been looking at the OKKO Diablo which is out of Germany but pretty expensive for a pedal. I've also been looking at the Lovepedal Englishman which gives a little more of a cranked Vox AC30 tone. I like the sounds coming from the T-Rex Moller Overdrive also. But I really want to be able to go between a good clean clean boost through to Stones tones to Rocky Mtn. Way. Oh yeah, I've also been looking at running one of the Tech 21s straight into the amp. I have a Twin so I won't have much conflict for Fender sounds, but I like that cranked tweed deluxe tone alot. I have the Rat for heavier stuff.

Here's the T-Rex Moller: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTgdtekVnyY

The Lovepedal Englishman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPs9F1Qbcdo

The OKKO Diablo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvgInu7yBD8 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TJKTEII ... re=related

The Tech 21 Blonde: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6XK6khLaxM

So what do you guys think? Anyone have any experience with any of these?

Sounds great IMO...

Also the Fulltone OCD is a really cool pedal too.

I really love the tone from the OKKO Diablo, but the one thing that has me leaning toward the T-Rex is the ability to mix the signals alot like you can with a DD3. This way you can keep some of the natural tone of the guitar coming through instead of all or nothing.

I've listened to the OCD but it's not quite what I'm after. I've listened to BBE Green Screamer, but I kinda got tired of the Tube Screamer tone.

Hi dvlsadvc8t, and greetings to Houston!

I have had the Moller for half a year now, and I can highly recommend it!

Also it seems your heart is already set on this fine Danish pedal, so why not try it out someplace?

Image

It's got boost, overall level adjustment on the right, Gain and Tone (which I would call "Presence") on the left, in the middle is the Wet/Dry mix of how much OD you put into your signal. Even if you don't use OD in a song you can utilize it's boost function.
Another secret weapon is the "voice" button, which lets you adjust for whether you are feeding it a heavy Humbucker or a slender SCoil signal, basically it makes the SC a bit fatter and the HB a bit less "bassy", or the other way round, or whatever you prefer.

The sounds can vary from slightest VOXy beat-crunch, to Brown Sugar-esque crackle to higher gain for whatever OD sound you want, really. I have never found it "muddy" my signal, you can always play with it to suit the room or the amp or the guitar, a simple yet versatile tool. And great sounding at that.

I give it 10/10 and would say it's well worth it's money.

Cheers and hope you have some hands on, for that is always tons better than any video or advice. Should you want to know more, give a shout! ;-)

Happy shopping... 8)

-Nutter

Thanks Nutter. I think I'm gonna get my local GC to order me one so I can try it out. I forgot about the nifty little single coil/humbucker switch. That pedal just seems like it has a ton of tone options in it. If I feel it's not for me then I'll take it back, but the more I thought about the mix knob, the more I liked that option. Thanks for the review on it.

Hi.

If I may add yet another pedal for you to look at, the GPS Greenie is a well made all steel cased drive pedal that is based on the tube screamer, but adds more tones with a classic voicing, a fat voicing and a tight. The classic is very close to the T808 type, the fat will give you a nice think tone boost and the tight is like a T808 with some compression added.

And for 49.99, you can't go too far wrong. Use the link and there are sound links to listen to the three tone settings.

The only dig I have with this is the on lamp, it is a LED that can be used and a laser beam, it is very bright, bright enough to light a room (I kid you not). I have put some masking tape over might to tone it down some.

I hope this helps.

If you can find a Vox Valve tone V810 on Ebay, you will be very happy. Can be had for under 100 bucks. True bypass. The sweetest, most transparent, harmonic OD pedal I have ever heard.

I am very glad they are my secret.

Guys, I appreciate the suggestions, but I have listened to a lot of those and I have narrowed it down to the 4 that I listed. Those are the ones that seem to get me what I'm looking for. So far the T-Rex and the OKKO Diablo are winning out.
